Why are USA seed banks so expensive?

I'm still ordering most of mine overseas. Yes, I've ordered from USA seed banks, but its no better than overseas, and half the price.

What breeders are you ordering overseas that is double the price in the US? Alot of the cheap seed companies out of europe are complete crap and alot of them dont breed at all but just buy bulk seed and repackage it.

It's mostly american breeders charging more for their work and not the seedbanks. Pretty much every notable strain that came out in the last 5-10 years was bred in the US.

I agree, most of the seeds you buy if you trace them back the genetics come from USA. Here's an example. I bought 4 packs of CSI for 400.00 A 100.00 pack. I can buy a pack of Sannies Sugar Punch for 40.00 or Escobar Oxacan,Purple Storm or Aztech Rain for 35.00 a pack.. Devils Harvest Casey Jones, Shoreline or Strawberry Diesel for 30.00 .They are just as good or better than the CSI. I've been to Colorado and smoked what was some of the shops top shelf. No better then what I'm growing.

I am new to this site and new to the grow your own idea.I have tried growing some outside stuff during the summer in past years when seeds came with every bag purchased but now rarely see any seeds.
I would like to try some indoor growing but am afraid to order seeds in the mail.I live in Pennsylvania and would like to know where or who is safe to buy from.
Any help is mucho appreciated.

Don't sweat buying seeds from USA or Europe for that matter.

If seeds get found, all they an do is send you a letter stating youre not allowed to have the seeds, and that you can contest the seizure, if you want to.

Ive been buying seeds from overseas since the 80s. Nevil/SSSC. Ive had probably 5 seizures, but for my needs, I can get anything I want right here in USA.

You cant control what comes in your mail, and the seeds could have been sent by anyone trying to get you into trouble. Its true if you use a CC/Debit you leave a trail, but they don't have the money, or manpower, to chase down people for seeds. Especially a few packs ?? Maybe 45 seeds ??

Probably not best to have seeds mailed to where the grow will be.:shock::shock:

I also don't find USA Banks any more expensive vs Europe.

The Hazeman 88 G13/Hashplant from DC Seed Exchange was far cheaper vs the Attitude. DC wanted $50 a pack. Attitude was $70 USD+. And More for guaranteed reshipment. Almost $100. You could get 2 packs. But DC is out of them. Attitude has some.

Europe/USA both have expensive seeds if you look into it. Mr Nice Super Silver Haze is almost $160 USD + Shipping.

ALL are expensive, and there are better versions now available of these strains in USA. Though some still expensive, but cheaper vs Europe. The Coastal Seeds Heirloom NL1 x PNW Hashplant are $125 + $7 shipping. Known as Puck Yeah x Coastal... And is known as Hashplant x Sensi Seeds. Though the Hashplant was backcrossed to its original clone only mother. This NL1/HP is the Backbone, and is the Original stuff, unlike Sensi, who lost the orginal genetics in the early 2000s.

If you want a heavy duty, good producing Afghani look into the Coastal Seeds.... Black Lights ( JamesBeanCompany ) ORIGINAL 90s Black Domina x NL1.

I would suggest the Coastal Puck Yeah, but are out of stock.

Look into the Vashon Early Bird/M26... Also at James Bean. Its a Kush x Early SK#1, and is very fast flowering. They are $40 a pack.

6-7 weeks flowering, medium yield. Done 1st week Sept outside.

I hate to see people waste valuable effort, time, and money.

If you want a really, really potent Sativa Leaning, look into the Swami Organic Seeds

NL5 x Haze.

Really, Really powerful, longer flowering on average, but with HUGE yield. Very Potent. 67-75 days flowering on average. There are shorter flowering phenos, but are not as common. 56 days.

You get 15 seeds per pack. Some are less than $100.

But Ive tried the Blue Orca Haze, NL5/Haze, and 2 buddies have these going now, and I'm smoking the BOH right now.

BOH is a cross of clone Only Mother Blue Orca x Nevils NL5/Haze Male

It is a Pre soviet 1971 Kandahar Afghani x 1976 Thai Stick, Highland Blue Thai from BEL. Look up Brotherhood of Eternal Love....

Blue Orca, and its sister, The ONE, are the oldest marijuana clones, and are from 1984. Look up Clackamas Coot. These are his genetics ( BEL ) and are sold by Swami, and Not to be confused with the guy in the robe. This aint him.

These are the original genetics from 88 Nevils SEED BANK Limited Release of this strain, and originally came with a Warning, and still does. Only drawbacks are longer flowering times, and they like lots of light.

I usually make a $100 donation to Swami, and ask for what ever strain I want, and then, you will also get a Free Pack of 15, of another Strain. Or if you ask, he will probably give you any freebie you would ask for.

If you want a Skunk? Look into the Swami Blue Orca x 1985 Road Kill Skunk Guadalajara. There will be skunk phenos if you look.

This is the real RKS clone only mother from 85, that was taken to Guadalajara in 1985, and hybridized, and stabilized with a local strain for over 30 years to produce RKS in seed form. The PURE version will be available this spring. Late Spring I believe GAS said.

It sounds like you really know your stuff.
I have been toasting for over 50 yrs and don't know Jack about all these strains.Not legal where I'm at but hoping laws change in a direction that allows me to grow.Then I can see a lifetime hobby.
I definitely appreciate your help on seeds but can tell I have a lot to learn.
I'm tired of paying for dog shit and want to see if I can do better.Everyone starts somewhere,but anxious to learn!

Not legal where I am either, and I also have been toking for around 51 years. My 1st was when I was 8. Not saying that's good. But it is what it is. I grew my 1st in 72.

Bro, no need to worry. I've been buying seeds since 2002. My first order was from Kind Seed company out of Canada. They use to have the front inside cover for the ad. I was so nervous about ordering the first time but no need. Literally there is no one spending money looking for beans in the mail, aka cops or fbi or customs. They're looking for drugs but if they do find the beans they just toss them in the trash and at worst, they send you a letter telling you they took your beans and not to do it again.

I don't think anyone has ever been arrested for having beans sent to their house. If you are growing at your crib try to send the beans to a friends house, or don't, I've had beans sent to my crib before when I was just growing a plant or two.

Do it, you'll be glad you did!
