Why humidity different at Drying/Curing?

Hello all,
I was wondering why weed is cured at 65% humidity and stays fine from mold problems but when drying humidity shouldn't go over 55%. I was thinking best drying results would be from as slow as possible drying in constant 60-65% or even more if you occasionally lower it(like burping jars). That of course if everything is well spaced out like in jars where buds are usually spread in 1-2 ounces per jar. I'm quite inexperienced so i'm just theorizing, anyone have some ideas about it?

me too. like to slow down the fermentation, or to begin it too I think...curing=preserving. maybe for long term storage? mine doesnt sit around long enough to fuss with.
I dont ferment any other garden herbs, and skip it on my weed too.
some subscribe to the old fermentation of tobacco(its fed N to the end for the heavier yields of green, tastes like a golf course if not cured) curing.
During fermentation bacteria breaks down the unused carbs in the plant material providing for a smoother smoke.
over 50% and mold is inevitable. I use a large walk in grow tent with all the controls to dry mine, no fermenting, no added moisture for a perfect finish every time. Think about it...if the weed wasnt jammed full of un used fertilizers why would you need to ferment them out?

I believe the lower humidity helps the bud dry faster...I dry for 5-6 days...then into rubbermaid tubs with a hygrometer with a probe...the probe goes into the tub...tub lid applied...then the temp and humidity are on a digital display outside the lid/tub...when humidity rises...open tub...shuffle bottom buds to the top, fan with lid...seal back up... until you hit 62% humidity...once cured they go into zip locks with 62% boveda packs.then burn, cook or extract...but I do grow about 25lbs outdoors....works for my yard....hth
