I have 7.5v 1a AC to DC adapter that went to a netgear hub will it work on Xbox 360 fans if i spliced ends and wired them. I have 1 plant with a 105watt cfl (420watt) in a 19 gallon tote with no top and i need some fans in there

It should, depending upon the power requirements of your fans

There are a number of tutorials on the web regarding this type of project.
I just did this project. I have a 12V (600ma?) adapter powering two fans (input current 0.11A/each).
Here are some of my notes I collected:
Some of the easiest fans to use are computer fans because they are quiet and reliable and cheap at around $4-$15. Opt for the ball bearing fans because they last longer, are quieter, and don’t go bad and get extremely loud like bushing fans. One 80mm fan is good enough to cool a 70w HPS, or floros around the same wattage. 2-3 fans would work well for a 150-250w HPS. To power the fans which run on 12v dc use an AC/DC adapter that you can either buy one,
9v DC adapters
12v DC adapters

Or just look around your house, they come with many small rechargeable electronic appliances, I know I have collected around 7 that have just been laying around. If your doing a stealth setup you want a 9V charger so the fans will run slower and quieter, or you can buy a 12v and use a dimmer.

The adapters rating is in milli amps and the fans rating is in amps, so to convert move the decimal over 3x, so 600ma=.6a . You want to keep the power supply rating higher then the fan draw, otherwise your run the risk of overheating the charger and it failing on you, or making a fire.
---------------
Fan wires... red =12v, black=ground, yellow=sensor/speed control
leave the yellow unconnected and the fan should run at full speed.
Just connect one adapter wire to the fan’s red wire and the other adapter wire to the fan’s black wire. Nothing bad will happen. – If the fan doesn’t spin, or spins backward, undo the connections and reverse them.
If you look at the cable on a wallwart DC output, the wire usually has white hash marks on one conductor. This is the POSITIVE leg. If the wire has raised longitudinal ridges on one side, that is USUALLY but not always the POSITIVE side.
If you have a spare unused transformer cut the end of it, it should have a one black wire and one black wire with a white stripe, wire the red wire of the computer fan to the wire with the white stripe and the black to black wire.
-----------
Here's a Fan controller specifically for pc fans. The controller has a power adapter that plugs in the wall and the 12v PC fans plug directly into the controller to get power. $26 Silenx IXAFCEX Four Channel External Fan Controller at TigerDirect.com

I run 12v 0.3a brushless radioshack 4" 85cfm fans........two spliced into 12v 1A dc converters I found at thrift stores.....you need a 12v adapter or they will run slow. I have an adapter that has selectable voltage and 1A...when you slide the voltage down to 7 the fans struggle.....works pretty well as a fan speed controller I reckon but I just bought it cause the thrift stores were out of 12v ones lol.

I read somewhere that the CFM for the xbox fans is about 27-29CFM. I have no idea if thats true or not.

Ya big light kinda heavy i need to get a big peace of wood or somethin throw on the top dunno dont like it not havin anything on top i gotta figer that out or try to get anther tote

the 7.5V 400mA AC/DC supply should be fine.. just splice the wires.. Make sure you insulate the connections and solder them well.. However worst case scenario is just destroying the PSU anyway so its not too dangerous..Possible fire hazard though.

30CFM is sort of minimum what I would put in there so I would maybe use both.. but I have 2, 120cfm fans but I only run them on like quarter strength so not too far from you in a slightly larger space.

Good luck man, I am on my first grow too. Going well :)

See the thing is a 30 cfm 12v fan will not be 30 cfm at 7v....I got my 12v power supplies at thrift stores for 50 cents....had to dig a little...so tote, no lid....you could turn it upside down, cut a hole in the bottom (new top) that's a little smaller than your hood so that the hood just sits there. One thing about mylar.....if its not perfectly flat, it's my opinion that it's not really working on account of the angles bouncing the light in so many different directions...the more crinkles, the less it reflects and I have never been able to get that shit on straight....I can't put window tint on either lol....I have found that white paint reflects the best, but alas, I have never taken measurements of mylar vs white...just my opinion.

Sending some good vibes your way, good luck!!

Ya i thought of flipin it upside down and when i read about the 360 fans says the system ran them at 5v but they say 12v on the fans if thats y then theres the answer y the system had overheating problems. Im gonna prolly have to grow the plant next to the light not under if if flip it will that work does anyone know i was gonna lst the sh*t otta plant
