Worker Protections Head to the Floor this Week. SB129

SB129 by Sen. Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, would bar employers from discriminating against medical marijuana patients during hiring, firing and nearly everything in between. Bosses could still punish those who let the drug hinder their work, but employees would be able to sue for marijuana-related discrimination. The chamber says it would endanger workplace safety.
I will be stunned if this passes although I agree with Sen. Leno that it's a fools game to not vote yes in case we the voters get active in 2012.

i'm pretty sure this already did pass. The only jacked up thing about it is that there is an exception for safety sensitive positions, which is pretty much every job but McDonalds.

Cool, I found a link right after I asked the question:

Here is a link to the in's and out's http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/guide.html

I think anything I need to understand about the Legislative Process will be explained in that link.

Inactive File
The portion of the Daily File containing legislation that is ready for floor consideration, but, for a variety of reasons, is dead or dormant. An author may move a bill to the inactive file, and move it off the inactive file at a later date. During the final weeks of the legislative session, measures may be moved there by the leadership as a method of encouraging authors to take up their bills promptly.
So is this an attempt to not kill the effort? Is this a way to continue it later?

If I understand things correctly there is a deadline looming.
