They cannot see through your walls, just hot spots on the walls and roof and stuff. I vented my little flower room which has a 400 W HPS light in it into the attic ac/heat ducting so it comes out in another room. They won't notice a thing from me! Google some IR pics and you will see how they work. Don't worry unless you are venting that air straight outside somewhere cuz then they will notice a steady stream of heat...

I worked with IR devices for 10 yrs and I can tell you the police don't own anything possible of seeing heat from a 400watt lamp. Unless you have it in your attic and if you live in a dry climate such as NM, AZ, NV then they will just think it's a swamp heater. Other sources of attic heat can be central air unit's, and attic stored hot water heaters.
You don't see through walls with that equipment. I could never see through walls with the equipment we used and the only people who have devices like that are military. Yes, they do have stuff that can push past the boundry of plaster and mortar. Although the military is out for bigger game. Plus they are not allowed to police the US by the Constitution. Thats why police have had such a hard time without the funding and support.
Hope that made ya feel better, now go get an super huge air freshner cause I can smell that BUD from here LOL :joint:
