Would this be a waste of money?

For a grow cab thats only 24 cubic feet, would a 140cfm centrifugal fan be overkill to run through a can filter?

I mean I know its overkill, but would it be smarter to get a cheaper axial fan?

I'm cooling about 90sq' with a 4in 171 cfm fan and it really moves the air.

That fan would change all the air in your system about once every ten seconds.

Not sure if that's too much or not.

haha, sounds like alot. Thats what I thought, so IM also getting a fan speed regulator to turn it down if needed.

Unfortunately it seems if you want to filter through a carbon scrubber you need the power of a centrifugal...

bigger fan is better.....the way i look at it....if you have a bigger fan and later down the road you want to do a bigger room you are set...you have a fan that will work...also i always use a carbon filter and fan that are recomened to do more square footage than my room is.....that way you never have to worry.....in my 8x8 room ive got 2 8" fans....switching to 2 12" fans....:)

Been thinking alot about fans lately too. Just ripped apart 2 computers and got 4 4inch fans. Im thinking of running one fan in parallel with one of the hard drive fans to pull in air from the outside and the same fan setup in reverse to pull out air from the top of the enclosure. These are for a very small enclosure of 3 plants with CO2. It will be vented to the outside of the house so the CO2 doesnt kill us and the puppies.... This would work wouldnt it?

mario - that 140cfm fan will NOT move 140cfm once you hook it up to your carbon scrubber... 140cfm is with NOTHING attached... the carbon scrubber is a substantial amount of pressure... probably about 0.5 inches water column - check the fan stats to see what kind of cfm you will Really get... it will likely be under 100cfm..
