Would you work for a new (small) LP?

There will be NO shortage. Only in the first period as they stock whatever stores are setup. After that it all goes downhill FAST. People will try some...then they will buy from the BM again who will be cheaper.
Yes their will be some dumb fucks who pay too much and won't get it. I actually know a few of those idiots. But the majority will grow their own or buy from their brother or BM buddies.
Who ever think that thousands of new Canadians are going to rush these places are WRONG. Most folks who want to use cannabis already are. The fact that it's already not legal and folks use it at will is pretty obvious. Stampedes of new comers to weed ARE NOT going to happen. They will see lots of folks who come in for a look with no intention of buying. Or folks like me may buy a gram or two and and learn that lesson pretty fast. The retail prices will be stupid high. They are gonna be eating their shirt in no time.
Too many non cannabis greed bags lining up for their pot of gold they think...think again.
Like any new restaurant the stores will see lots of traffic. Then after the initial curiosity is satisfied the romance will be over.
Fuck seems very few folks here know anything about retail.

I don't disagree with your points.
I think the one piece you're missing is that when members of the BM see their legal counterparts making serious money, they start being more open to accepting that job offer that doubles their income and removes the "illegal" aspects of their career.

I spent 18 months studying these markets (from Colarado to Africa) and seeing what they do with it, what happens to the economy, what happens to the black market, etc.
This is not new. Canada is not the first to do this.
Colarado thought the same thing, but the end result for them was that the government made so much money in taxation that they had to start giving the money back to the people because the economy was being held up by cash being in the government's pocket.

You vastly underestimate the potential market here.
This is like alcohol sales after prohibition.

Point one:
Dropping all that tax free money to work for LP's....hahahahaha....ya right.

Point two:
It's hard to use Colorado as a model for here as the gov didn't try pulling what they have here.

Point three
Alcohol prohibition is not the same subject and from too in the past to use it as an example of what legalization will look like. Alcohol is MUCH more popular that weed will be...for now anyway.

Point four:
Folks will eventually drop booze and switch to weed imo. Although weed is not strong enough for most boozers. Most heavy drinkers I know don't smoke much weed.

unions increase costs and lower productivity 1000% of the time... i think federal/provincial/municipal unions should be completely banned as unions are meant to protect the employee and you shouldnt need protection if the government is your employer.... they already adhere to all labour laws etc... i've never been in a union and it's worked to my benefit financially not to mention i can have pride in my company and the work we do and the speed/quality we do it... hint at least twice as fast as a union would

Fun fact, most private sector businesses don't give a rat's ass what union shops are forced to pay for wages. Some pay less, some pay more - employees are free to negotiate their own wages (and entertain other opportunities) so employers will pay to keep the best. Both sectors have pro's and con's, but I've done well without unions and I have no interest in changing.

I'm a firm believer on being compensated by performance. Do a good job and be rewarded, that's not the case with unions. Most union workers I've had the pleasure working with don't give a rats ass about their performance because they have a union to hide behind. They essentially dictate to their employer how to run their company. I agree that historically unions have benefitted everybody with worker rights and safety, but now a days they simply hold employers hostage and demand sometimes outrageous benefits and compensation. If your a good worker and an asset to your employer, they have no choice but to pay well, or risk you leaving. It has artificially raised union workers rates to the point where most people can't afford to hire a plumber who's making the same or more than law enforcement or 1st responders.

If I were any dumber I would have been a plumber....

unions gave us what we all have now decades [before you were born] ..they had to fight to get them.. so everyone can feel smug and talk about dumping them

I don't know where you think 'smugness' comes into it? Why is it always " us vs. them" with unions? I could say the same about unionized workers looking down on the private sector and I would be closer to reality. Unions helped shape laws around working conditions in a time when there was no government protections. That time has passed, the high school kid working at a fast food joint has the same protections as everybody else. Do what you want to do, but understand that a large % of workers do just fine without paying union dues and are happier for it.

No but I will take my own license for 200 plants and a coffeeshop. My plan all along ever since I went to the Dam in 2009 was to go greenhouse to (coffeeshop) table. That way I control everything and keep it extra clean. I would stock gear from other growers to keep it interesting but my offerings would be half mine. Mostly so I could showcase how much better my ganja is. My indoor grows simulate a hot Afghanistan summer, hot and dry in the last month I really push the resin. I would offer a daily pre-made soup and have pastries delivered. I really believe that you have to eat high fat foods while you smoke alot of high-grade. The coffeeshop is my favorite experience yet. I really miss meeting new heads like I did in the Dam.
