After reading for past 2 weeks ,i decide to build some led .On my first build ,i use 8 cxa 3070 ab 3000k ,and 4 cxa 3070 5000k .
I have 10 xxxl hoods which i am not plan to use anymore ,so we decide to expirement with one ,i use 6 cxa 3070 ab ,and 2 cxa 3070 5000k with 2 power supply's .So here is photos .Any suggestions always welcome .
And thank you for people who help me and answer my questions : Supra, GreenGenes and others . On couple of the photos you can see i use cd disc as spectrometer ,reddish colors is from 3000k ,blueish colors from 5000k :) I know it is may be lame ,but it works to some point :)
Grow journal should start in month or so .I need to build more lights ,so i can compare it .So any suggestion welcome :) I was thinking about vero 29 , but can't decide between 2700k vs 3000k vs 4000 k vs 5000k ,veggie / flower light 20150115_181636.jpg 20150115_181732.jpg 20150115_181806.jpg 20150115_182015.jpg 20150115_182041.jpg 20150115_182112.jpg 20150115_182819.jpg 20150117_133717.jpg 20150117_133913.jpg 20150117_133948.jpg

So bad ass bro!!! Now that is a DIY reflector.
Do you plan to hook it up to ducting at all? I have always thought about something similar...and I think solis tek did it...to basically replace the glass of the hood with heatsinks to that you could hook it up like a regular hood and use an inline for serious cooling. The air would travel down the fin channels. But then the reflector is useless.

Enough of my babble...great job man and a killer design.
Have you got to get some par numbers from it yet. Just the cxa's being closer together will give a big boost, then the help from the reflector...sounds like strong penetrating coverage....NICE!

Thank you GG ,if you like it then it make my day ,because you original video and thread inspire me .Then i saw Supras thread ,and it was done deal :)
I did some reading ,from side of reflector 12 inch and if move sensor to middle of lamp it is reads from 660 to 720 :) I move sensor 10 inch from diodes then it goes up to 1400-1500
What you think about vero 29 ? Seems they little cheaper .

HEY! That looks sort of familiar ;-).

It's amazing what one can accomplish with a few aluminum angles and tubing.

I use Veros for everything. After playing around with various color temps I have settled on all 3500k for flower, all 5000k for clones, mother and veg. This is after spending more money than I'd like to admit experimenting with various color temps. Needless to say, now I have plenty of 'extra' Vero's in 2700k (too red (stretch) for my liking), 4000k (a bit greener than I like) and some 3000k (OK but a tad warmer than Cree's 3000k). The Vero 3500k is really very good for flowering. Plenty of punch in the right places. I do supplement with deep red since IMO none of the warm whites has enough of except maybe the Vero Decor 2700k which doesn't seem to be available. I like to have the deep reds separately switched anyway for early flowering stretch control.

Thx ! So if i plan to use 8pcs vero 29 per hood ,then what ratio should be ? 6 pcs of 3500k and 2 pcs of 5000k ,assuming it will be veggie/flower light ?

That would work. You could go full cycle with 3500k. Many people do with 3000k.
just wonder if you have some completed journals with vero grow ? and i wonder what xxxl hood with 8 diodes will cover ? i hope 4x4 ,but i got feelings 3x3 will be more efficient .Any thoughts ?

I try not to do journals for personal reasons but there are many photos of plants grown under Veros already posted here on RIU. That hood is a great idea! Coverage is really dependent on how much height you have to work with. The higher you go, the wider the footprint. Meanwell HLG series is the best driver you could have used. Now you can use the dimming function when you need less light. All you need is a 50k linear taper potentiometer to dim both drivers simultaneously. You will be amazed how well you can keep things dialed in with the quantum meter too. I have everything except my clone chamber on HLG-Bs and I have found that I can optimize light for the plant's needs and that has shown up on the electric bill in a favorable way. And the plants are happy too!

I think ,i will do next hood this way : all Vero 29 , 6 pcs - 3500k , 2pcs - 5000k ,and 2 pcs - 2700k , so total it will be 10 led per light , should be killer light ,and this time i already order heatsinks from heatsinkusa ,so it will be more pretty and of course i will use same xxxl hoods to substitute for reflector :) It will be universal light for flowering and veggie . Any objections on colors (6- 3500k ,2- 2700k, 2-5000k ) ,or comments is always welcome !!! :weed:
