I know, I am SO excited...I'm going to be growing these plants soil AND hydro at the same time, and we're all going to learn so much. We'll be able to create a really awesome thread.

I am such a science dork...I was the kid who won the science fairs in school. This is all like one big science fair project to me!

Honkeytown, if you can find out any info for me on these Supernatural nutes that would be fantastic. How are you going to grow yours?

Oh and I have 3" pots and hydroton pellets. And I just wrapped up your seeds. SCIENCE!! <-- say in Thomas Dolby voice
lol...that's funny...I am a knowledge sponge myself...this will be good! for watering them for now I would just mix up a gallon at a time and water till you see it coming out of the bottom. As far as hydro goes I am a soil guy myself...so I am not a lot of help there. and yeah I am gonna grow these girls as big as possible in soil....i think I am gonna veg them for like three or four months...he he he...I may have to cut a hole in my ceiling....jk...but yeah...gimme a few....I need to go learn about hydroton pellets real quick...ha...and I will see what I can find for you on the supernatural nutes....anything specific you wanna know about them at all? :blsmoke:

Oh my god, you guys, I just pulled a yellowing fan leaf off one of my plants and it really does smell like watermelon! These plants smell sooooo good! You're going to love it!

I just want to know anything at all about them, really. I mean I downloaded their PDF but a lot of it isn't really applicable. I wish I could find someone who's used them.

So you're growing indoors in soil...and hydrotech is obviously growing hydro...and Seamaiden and I are growing outdoors in soil, and I'm doing this hydro now too...we have all the bases covered! I hope subcool enjoys this. :)

I just put a teeny bit of the GroAqua in a gallon of water and lightly watered my outdoor plants. We'll see what happens! Hopefully they'll be all WOOHOO NITROGEN!

(can i just say i'm sitting here eating vegan sushi and it's rocking my world? i suppose this could be due in part to the bowl i just smoked, but whatever, it's yum. carry on.)

What's funny about hydroton pellets? Besides the fact that my cats are batting them around my kitchen floor...

There's nothing better for drainage below soil than about an inch or so of hydroton. You can also pile them on the top so that when you water it doesn't push around all your dirt. It also acts as mulch to keep water in, and if you're using drip irrigation, it distributes water. It also keeps the sun from torching any surface roots.

Love those guys.

WOOOOO I got the cab set up! But I have a few questions now. First, my light is wack. One side of it hangs down maybe an inch lower than the other. I don't know if it's broken or what but I'm not sure yet how to fix it. Will this make a difference in the way the plants grow?

It doesn't seem to be possible to move the light up and down. Right now it's about 2' above the plants. Is that okay?

The fan is loud. Do you have to run the fan all the time? I wanted this thing to be stealth and it totally isn't.

Do I need a carbon filter? There wasn't one included and I'm not sure how you would install one.

So anyway, there's one Connie and the one single papaya that I was able to germ. The others are still soaking in water though.

Okay guys, here is my hydro cab:

Papaya seedling L, Connie seedling R (I ate the other two that germed! Gotta honor their short lives somehow!)

Here is the issue. The screws that hold the light in have fallen out on the left side and there's no way to fix them because you can't take the top off the thing. Is this going to affect the way the plants grow?

Full cab with fucked up light.

What do you think?? Overall I'm not thrilled with the construction to say the least.

What do I start the light cycles at?

Thanks for the light info. Word.

The deal with the screw is that the piece of plastic it was screwed into has somehow fallen out! So it's not the screw itself but the top of the cab. There has to be some way to fix it...I think what I'll probably do is get a self-adjusting curtain rod and just prop it up between floor & ceiling. That seems like the cheapest and easiest fix.

Im sure youll get it.Take the plants out and get a handy guy to fix it so it doesnt fall and kill youre herb. With youre attitude youll find someone to fix it.

Also, this thing is in no way light tight. There are several places where light leaks out, including the fan. There's probably a half-inch gap between the two doors. What do I need to do, cover it with tape and take the tape off every time I open it?

This cab kinda sucks. Absolutely not at all worth $450. Oh well, I have no choice but to make it work. And I've never needed a handy guy -- you're talking to a girl who just carried an air conditioner a block and up four flights of stairs by herself. Today I carried a bookshelf down the stairs to make room for the cab. With my attitude, I fix shit myself. ;)

Oh, it doesn't have to be light tight until flower? If that's the case I'm going to knit a cover for it. Yes I did say knit. I might as well make it awesome if I'm gonna make it! :)

So you can open it and look at it during veg? How long does it take to start looking like a plant? Aren't you psyched that I'm growing papaya & connie side by side? We need to make a separate connie thread for all the people who are growing it, now there are 4 of us!

You can keep it open the whole time the lights are on during veg and flower.Just light tite during every twelve hours of darkness when youre flowering.I set my timer so i can enjoy my plants when im home. They sleep 12 hours while im gone.Just make sure youre cover is completely light proof. You know it may just be me but i think i sent a book to you for you to read about all this neat shit !!!!lolOH yeah one more thing dont really stress about the hermies if ya keep everything chilled out and do everything the way ya always do they wont freak out and hermie!!!!Or at least the probobilities are low that they will!!! I'm just hoping they're not both male!

I've read the whole section in the book about outdoor growing...but I have a major project due this week for work and I haven't had time to read anything but my own writing lately! I will sit and read the hydro part tonight.

I've read a lot of the hydro section here and the thing everyone seems to disagree on is how often to make the sprinkler come on. Mine is either on or off. Do I need to put it on a timer? Will it be okay if I just leave it on 24/7?

Littlebat, rebuild it with JBWeld, then tap for the screw (without reading past the pix with the cabinet and hydroton pellets). :)

Nope but if the connie is mostly sativa you will have to make a gradual change to the 12/12 cycle of light,to keep the hermie chance down.24,18/6,16/8,14/10,12/12.i went from 18/6 straight to 12/12 on the papaya because its an indica dominant hybrid.
