i just discovered that you can use a hps in a mh ballast . i tried a argo hps bulb in my mh ballast . my ballast is a magnetic ballast and it turned on and ran smoother then my mh bulbs did. so its proven fact that it does work and you can use a mh bulb in a hps but it runs hotter so myth busted .

    you're backwards.

you can run a mh in a hps ballast. not vice versa. hps needs an ignitor to light. if you have a true mh ballast, it lacks not only the ignitor, but the x3 wire as well, and will not ever run a hps.

    no rep today.

well your wrong because i had mines runing today bro. so explain that one. and i proved it by doing it . so how can you say that ? and my ballast has many wires that are not hooked up to it either. so you need to rethink that 1 , and i know you can run a mh in a hps but it kills life off the bulb and runs hotter, but i got a 430w argo hps and put it in my mh ballast and it worked for 12 hours str8 so tell me about that 1. and when i learn how to put vids on youtube im going to prove it

take a picture with this post printed out beside the ballast and lamp. if you're telling the truth, you have a hps ballast that you only thought was a mh. if the ballast is in a case, remove the cover, take a picture with the post visible.

then, take a picture of the lamp and ballast together in close proximity, so we can see it's not bullshit. things work the way they work. you're not special, and you didn't just reinvent the wheel. and you are so not worth rep.

so your telling me that i paid for a mh ballast from a store and had them shit it to me just to tell me that its a hps ballast? im not going to print this out but i will take a pic of it so you will know check this post in the morning

that's what i'm telling you. no ignitor, no fire. it's that simple. the only hps bulb that will work in a mh ballast is a conversion bulb, which i certainly do not recommend over standard.

my nallast has a big coil and a small1 and a capacitor so whats that ? mh right? man im just going to take pics so you can see actually hold on thats the halide bulb in this 1

the first picture shows the ballast, the capacitor, and the ignitor (oh wow, guess you didn't see that circuit card that all the pretty wires are plugged into....). that card IS the ignitor. it's an hps ballast. thank you for proving yourself wrong, you get rep now. just not from me.

wheres the ignitor kuz the only thing on that ballast is a paper thing that has coil coating on it . and the capacitor is hooked up to it . and why does my shit put when i switch it on and when i use my halide it jus switches right on and if its a hps ballast im man enough to say sorry about the shit and teh store sold it to me and shipped it so . im sorry if that makes you happy . dont have shame . its the stores fault not mine.

a mh bulb will light in a hps ballast. a hps bulb will not light in a mh ballast. as any CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN, or ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN, or ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, etc; tell them you made a hps come on in a mh ballast and see what their reaction is. i fucking dare you.

btw, just so you're not surprised, you'll be laughed at.

man i ask people all the time and they say mh wont work in hps ballast and hps wont work in mh ballast and i tell em i have proof . and this is all i need kuz im going for industrial maintenance technology

    ooo you'll do great! *snicker*

i'm telling you, the little plastic thingy with all the wires on it attached to the transformer (those two lil coily thingys you was talkin bout) is the ignitor. the laws of physics don't change because you all of a sudden did something no one else ever could.....

i mean seriously. think about it for a second. if it WAS possible..... don't you think OTHER people would be saying it works? wouldn't it be well known and why then would they make ignitors and aditional wires in the coils in order to fire a lamp?
    why spend the money?
why even invent it? it works, right?

common sense is such a lil bastard, ain't it?

i also been told that a conversion bulb wont work on a regular hps nor mh ballast but it will work on a dual ballast is what im told , so is that true or what ?

that is not true. a conversion bulb is made to work in the wrong ballast. a regular mh will work in a hps, but will have half the life. a switchable ballast is one that doesn't lower the life of the mh bulb, as the switch disconnects the ignitor.

    again, it's not rocket surgery.
