You don't need Air Stones

I've used air stones with every DWC setup until recently. Honestly, I can't notice any difference in air injection vs. air stones. This run these girls have shown no deficiencies.

air stones are like night and day
the cheap simple ones .....they do more then u think .......with them they break the air bubbles into a smaller bubbles compared to just the tube in the water (by breaking the bubbles into smaller ones it increases the amount of oxygen that is transfered to the water and the amount of time the bubble is in the water an the amount of air that will cling to the roots)

now a good air will make all the different in a grow .........their are called micro pore diffusers or air diffusers (this things are the shit) the bubbles are tiny ......the root zone loves it they are so small they cling everywhere untill they build up then go to the top

Micro-diffusers don't do anything but raise your cost of growing. Air stones work very well. I run an 8-outlet commercial air pump with 2 large stones per 27gal tote.

I also disagree with the Dissolved Oxygen argument. If fish require more oxygen than cannabis how come most fish tanks only have a cheap water pump/waterfall. It is because the waterfall action provides enough oxygen for fish.

I personally run cheap air stones to keep my roots from settling to the bottom of my totes. I also run them to just avoid bullshit root rot n such since I don't run a water chiller ;). Its habit for me at this point.
