Hey I Know there is a problem and fixes thread, but I would like to hear from 1st time to experienced growers about what their biggest problems where. I want to be braced for everything, but more importantly I dont want to be overwhelmed by all the things that can go wrong I wana hear what does go wrong often, and what you did to fix it.

thank you for anyone that replys.

The main thing i have learnt during this my first grow is to start of your nuet mix at a quarter of what the bottle says for the first week at least then slowly build up the levels.
For beginers like us i think the most common problem on a first grow will be nutrient related.

Its easy to spot early if you are paying attention and a breeze to give them a good flush and start again with a milder solution.

Also i would say grow all the same plant on a small grow so the lights can stay at optimum level above the plants. I tried two different strains for a first attempt and had 2 plants that varied in their nutrient needs and 1 outgrew the other 2:1 so the light had to move with the taller plant.

thanks alot for your 2 cents. I was thinking bout growing power skunk and super lemon haze. Now I think Im just going to use my power skunk for a test run at it then grow the super lemon after I know I can : P. thanks again. your info is much appreciated.

Oh and with the nutes and 1/4 strength how early do you start adding nutes? right off the bat or do you give them a lil bit?

Always make sure you can account for space, In my initial attempts in growing, the plant grew immensely during flowering and grew into the lights during the dark cycle. My hazy gardening session at 1pm (7 hours of light) revealed serious burning, however I got an emergency lesson in topping. Keep your mind open when you grow and most of all, be prepared and know where to go for help

thank you. I have plenty of height, and I am going to be lollipopping clones so height wont be an issue, but I will make sure to check my plants frequently and keep my light away.

Haha, good call. Second to that, temperature and humidity are fairly important as well. Keeping temps around 20-23 Degrees Celsius and the humidity below 40% will noticeably improve the grow. Environmental conditions are key, simply take cues from nature and incorporate into your own garden.

try keep pH level as u can, i learnt a soar lesson with letting pH fluctuate too high and got nutrient lock out, ended up with 8 dead plants :(

I recently learned a big lesson... I had one plant finishing... a giant Mikado... I turned off my small osillating fan and just left the exhaust on... Big Mistake... I got bud rot in the center of the cola.. Cut out about an 1/8 and the rest looks ok.. I think I got it just in time.. Lesson = keep air moving

As KushCanuck was saying... when i first started a haze the box i orgionally was using became way too small... i under estimated how much it would grow in veg so i had to modify my box completely for the rest of the veg... and another thing i learned really quick was slowly working your way up to full strength nutrients (recently got nute burn on 1 of my plants) and make sure you try and flush the soil when watering to avoid the nutrient lock out...
For watering i have a black container with pH adjusted water that i use... I keep the pH around 5.6-6.0

keep your exhaust on when lights go out also.. at first I set the timer to turn fans off with the lights... causes extremely high humidity... always keep air flowing!!

thank you guys lots of good stuff. This one really caught my attention. Ive been reading these forums a lot and Ive heard it important to keep them moving, but I had no idea it was that important.

I have a dehumidifier and a heater and fans, hopefully I can regulate temp and humidity with that.

oh and ph I will keep a constant eye on... loosing all my crop to a pH lock would be devastating. sorry to hear of your loss mate.
