Zambeza - Little Dwarf - Just how little are they? We'll find out!!

Hey y'all,

Pal asked me to test some seeds. (He's thinking of doing a Pi Wall, they suggest dwarf autos!)

So, I've willingly agreed; he's not much of a smoker more of a cash cropper, he said I can keep the bud, he just needs to see how they grow . . . . tsk, if I have too . . . lol

So Zambeza Seeds from Spain - Little Dwarf Auto - Ruderalis and the legendary White Widow.

  • In Soil.
  • 3GAL Fabric Pots.
  • Pre amended with pelleted Confry / Alfalfa / Seaweed Meal, Charcoal, Earth Worm Castings, oh and beneficials.
  • Propagating under x4 4ft T5s.
  • Every watering: 0.4EC epsom salts, Canna Mono Ca & Sequestered Iron PLUS 0.2EC GEggy's H2 and NPK RAW Fulvic. Adding praps a touch of NPK RAW Kelp end of next week. I'm RO ;)

They're 8 days from planting the seeds . . . .

The one on the right is a freebee, it's a White Dwarf Auto from Buddha Seeds.

I'll snap em in a couple of days for yah . . . .

Happy Potent Growing . . .

and why not, I thought the Zambeza packaging was worth a mention, real time and care has gone into it . . . .

The foam layer sits on top of the five / ten individual capsules, resting in custom foam cut outs,
The "Collectors Card" rests ontop of the foam, showing through the little window in the lid.

BRILLIANT!!!

Hope they grow as good as the time they've spent on the packaging . . . . does that even make any sense??? 3am, time to close down for the night.

Heyaaah,

Yeah the White Dwarf, taint the same age . . . . she's 8 days ahead, a freebee I popped coz I had room in veg tent :)
They've all been moved out of the prop cupboard into a 1m tent with a 400w Retro White CMH. They're reacting nicely to the change in spectrum . . . . :)

I'll snap em in a bit . . . . (take some piccies o_O)

the white dwarf looks like its already seriously outpacing your little dwarfs

So . . . . . .. day ten from planting the seeds, except front and center, that's a White Dwarf, 8 days ahead :)

In their new home and new light spectrum. They're old enough now to be folio fed a weak nettle brew from GHE, Urtica.

All good . . . . .

Yo . . . .

I started a thread a couple of days back about folia PH, stating that average rain water is 5.6 to 5.8; asking, what do you PH your folia feeds to?

I also stated, "there's only one way to find out, a side by side . . . . . " . . . .so I take pleasure in announcing a new side by side by side experiment.

Three of my Little Dwarf Autos will be folia fed as normal, but the PH of each folia given to each plant will differ. I'm going for 5.6, 6.5 and 7.2ph . . . . dunno why, a broad spectrum of the PHs we come across when amending our water I guess.

Yeah, it's gonna be a bit tedious; but then my tap is 7.2, Urtica has little influence on the PH in the amounts I use it. So I can make up a straight bottle, spray the 1st, then work my way down. the scale. I intend to use Humboldt's Flavorful Humic Derivative, good and acidic, nearly 0 EC, in the drips I'll be using . . . . .

So there's my plan . . . . find the optimum PH for folia feeding Little Dwarf Autos - Ruderalis / White Widow.

Juuuuust in case anyone was wondering what the little green sticks are for . . . . .

They are to support my humidity bags.

An hour before lights off, bags go over each pot and the light is raised 300mm. The sticks stop the bags caving in when condense attaches.
An hour after lights on, the bags come off and the light is lowered 300mm and the soil is sprayed as often as needed throughout the day, with fresh chlorinated tap water not ph'd, to keep it moist n free of algae, 5mm below, it's barron . . . . lol

From seed, in pre heated pots and medium, up until 3 days ago the bags would only be off for 6 hours a day, during "peak sun" . . . .

Welcome to day 12 you little . . . . Dwarfs!!!

They had their first watering today, an inoculation, to get the old soil super charged and ready for work :)

I'm getting pretty bored of dressing bags on n off them daily, so I'm gonna butcher my bags and tape them to my frame I've just put together with hot glue and tape :)

Inoculation??

Adding bio diversity to my girlies' root zones.

SIMPS! You will need . . . .

  • 3 GAL bucket
  • 3 GAL of water (left out for 24hrs bubbling with airstones and a heater to 25c)
  • 1tsp Humboldt Mayan Microzyme
  • 1tsp Bushdoctor Micro Brew
  • 2tsp Unsulphured Molasses
  • 2tsp G.Eggy's H2
  • 1tsp NPK Labs RAW Fulvic
  • 1tsp NPK RAW Kelp
  • 2 drips of Hesi Supervit
  • Hand full of a mixture of Challenger and Fuggles Hops

I bubble the water and just the beneficials and Beer Hops for 3ish hours first, without any food, kinda wakes all the strains up together, better diversity imho . . . .
(I think some strains "wake" from suspension quicker than others when oxygenated, so if a readily supply of carbs IS available straight away, the ones that wake first get a head start on the slower ones, meaning they start their life's process quicker than others, so there fore, the design in the diversity of the inoculation could be off, some what, as the earlier strains will far outweigh the slower strains as they've been eating and populating for longer. "Waking them" for a few hours first, again, I think, means all strains arrive at the dinner party together and are at the dinner table at the same time ;).

Then after about three hours in goes one of the teaspoons of Molasses, the Fulvic and the H2. (2nd teaspoon of Molasses? To ensure there is a wee bit of carbs left over for the diversity still in the soil.) :)

All bubbled for another 12hrs ish

In goes the Kelp, the Svit and remaining teaspoon of Molasses (Kelp left out until the last 12 hours, NPK's RAW Kelp has a tonne of saponins in it, so it froths like a MF that's just been caught out!)

Then it's all bubbled for another 12 to 24 hours.

What is made is then diluted down 50/50 with dechlorinted water at 19c - The mixture usually cools to a nice 22c.

My bucket and airpump (a nice big one, you don't want pretty dribbles of air floating the top, you want air forcing it's way out of grow stones, being thrust to the top of the bucket . . . . imo if you take your airstone out of your inoc. bucket and it doesn't spit at you, get a bigger airpump!! I use four stones in the bottom of my little bucket . . . .

Have a look at it at work :)

Day 13.5 from planting . . .

A very strange leaf deformity discovered . . . . I ain't ever seen it before, in a number of years growing all sorts of strains . . . not many auto's though . . . . so, I'm all ears :)

At first glance it looked like a standard 5 blade leaf, second internode . . . . on closer inspection for stem colors, (the only way to tell early on if you're getting close to deficiency somewhere) I noticed three more blades to this leaf under the main blades; BUT, the top three blades should be on top . . . . . these were under neath, look at the size of the what I call the front leaf, the leading point, so to speak, tiny, lol . . . . That's an 11 blade leaf within 13 days of being planted and on only the second internode . . . . mmmmmental!!!!

I reckon they might be getting a wee bit too MUCH light ??? You'll notice the curling up / cupping of some of the leaves, indicative of the plant having difficulties transpiring, I shall raise the light a bit, and keep my humidity tent on a little longer . . . .

What do you guys n garls think?? I'm upping the P/Fe & Ca a tiny little bit to even out the green (P/Fe) and to see if the cupping can be sorted out (Ca), if it's not heat stress, other than that, don't think I'm that bothered, certainly not after a Strawberry Cough blaze :)

Interested in your thoughts . . . .:)

Looks good, I would say.

Your leaf curling up is most likely heat stress no biggy, and your other leaf is a mutant I see that pretty common with auto's, I had a mutant Purple Kush last grow that had all sorts of weird leaves coming out but still gave me some nice buds.

I believe its due to the feminization of the seed process.

Interesting you should say that @AKNorthernlights . . . . . it's been ticking in my mind, but then I grow loads of fems, nothing comes of what I see here and in your pic . . . .perhaps it's the femming of the Ruderalis genetics?

I believe its due to the feminization of the seed process.

Hey,

I dress them with big clear food grade bags (right over the pots too, canes are used to keep the "roof" up) a bit before lights off and leave them on for a bit after lights on . . . .simulating a humid night, could be that, the ruderalis in her doesn't take to such humidity at night . . . .

Oh ...and what are dressing bags? and why?

So . . . .day 14 from chucking the beans in the soil . . . .

They've just had a good soaking, so excuse the unusual shape to the leaves :)

Lights raised slightly, a little dose of Ca in the spaying they've just had, see what happens to that cupping over the next 24hrs . . . .

See you tomorrow :)
