Here is a news article that will make you sad. I know it made me sad and angry at the same time.

To tell people that they can't walk for breat cancer unless they have raised $2200.00 is just plain sad.

This economy is totally in the toilet, yet they will actually turn away walkers that raise $1000.00 or $1500.00 is sickening. In a fight like this I would think every penny counts :!:

SEATTLE -- Some local people who've signed up for the Susan G. Komen walk to fight breast cancer said they won't be able to participate because they haven't raised enough money.

Each person who is taking part in the three-day walk that begins Friday is required to raise $2,200.
Krystal Millett said breast cancer runs in her family, so she figured the least she could do was "walk for the cure," as the 60-mile event is known.
"So my friend and I finally decided we're going to do it. We're going sign up and take this on," Millett said. "And then we figured out we have to raise a bunch of money we don't have."
Millett said she didn't read the fine print that says walkers must raise the $2,200 minimum. She said she was only going to raise $1,000 and that she was told in order to walk, she must pay the balance herself with a credit card.
Millett said she asked if she could donate half the minimum.

"Basically (they) said, 'Too bad.' And when we said, 'We really want to walk. We can't raise this,' they said, 'Don't walk.'"
Rita Bernert said she raised $1,500 and was given an extension to raise the rest by Oct. 15.
"'But if you haven't raised the money by then, then you have to come up with the remaining balance from your Visa,'" Bernert said, quoting event organizers.
"We set this up to be a challenge, physically and financially. Our expectations are clear when you sign up. The average walker actually raises more than the $2,200 minimum," said Pat Renzulli of the National Philanthropic Trust, an event organizer.
Bernert said she believes so deeply in the cause that she's inviting everyone who could not raise $2,200 to walk with her around Green Lake for three days, starting at the Evans Pool on Friday morning.
