There is talk the CDC might be changing their recommendations on the public wearing masks. This was reasonable advice based on other similar epidemics, however, because asymptomatic people can carry and spread the disease and also because it is so persistent in the environment and on surfaces, masks used by the public will be probably recommended by the CDC soon.

However we must be mindful that medical workers, essential workers who work with the public, the vulnerable and seniors come first and will for awhile.

I figure the Chinese have been producing masks of all kinds for the last couple of months and have more PPE than most people suspect, they knew this was coming more than anybody and have had a couple of months to gear up and start mass production. They make more money when you buy it here and hospitals might not use this source, do buy lots for them too if you can, crowd source for orders in your community too and help the hospitals to help yourself.
