Puretane BHO Run Evaporation Question

Hey Guys new member,
I just received my 3gal chamber with digital heat pad from Amazon. Need some advice. Obviously I'm substituting my parents vintage electric griddle from 1970s (haha ironically they got it as a gift for me being born, 40 years later it has a reason to use) for the heatpad, and boil off on the heatpad, but this setup allows the digital pad to be directly connected to the vac chamber. Does this mean I can blast and go straight to vac skipping the boil off or do I just follow protocol here and just do it the way it's always been done? This is my dilemma for for today, nothing a fat joint and some dabs to distract me while I way for an answer haha. #StayinMedicated

He's asking why can't he just shoot into parchment inside his chamber with his digital heating pad underneath set to 100 degrees. When it's done, put the lid on and vac while dropping temp to around 88 degrees for an hour and a 1/2 or so.

No, before putting it under vacuum in your heated chamber, you need to passively boil off as much of the liquid butane as possible. I suppose it may not be necessary, but when under vacuum, the liquid will boil much more rapidly and violently and the vacuum will have a hard time keeping up with the evaped gasses.
Much easier to just boil off the majority of the liquid before putting it under vacuum. Atleast, this has been my experience over the past several years. Best of luck!

I recommend not. Electric heating mats are a source of ignition.

When open blasting, we used just hot water to boil off the bulk of the LPG and just finished in the chamber.

Lmao, no no no. Open blast into parchment inside chamber with heating pad until butane burns off, THEN lid goes on for vacuuming. This is done outside.

Regardless of where it is done, electric heating pads are a source of ignition when open blasting. Simple hot water from the tap is cheap, readily available, and is not an ignition source.

Sure, if you want to do it with water go right ahead but my heating pad is brand new and the chance of an electric ignition and subsequent explosion from butane fumes outside is minimal.

I used to feel that way until I saw an arc from a pad that had been abraded enough to expose the wiring at one spot.

I also had to stop using heating pads and go to hot water heating in C1D1 rooms to get my equipment certified to meet permitting requirements. Is your pad and controls rated NEMA 7, C1D1?

Okay, what will happen when the butane far heavier than air under the influence of gravity will be pulled downward toward your heat source (even outside) and when the concentration of fumes is great enough the butane will ignite (flash point -60C) WOOOOOOOF!!!!!! You are on fire now!
Forced air from a fan directed at the evaporation will prevent that from happening but I use hot water only and that is the safe method.
You can not be careful enough when handling explosive solvents.

Excellent point with the heat pad I also recommend wait to get lit after the extraction is completed double check all your valves make sure she's all snugged your nuts bolts and any thing that can spark or ignite you want as far as away possible the safest place to do any BHO PHO CHO or any solvent extractions because accidents do happen then you will have fun explaining to the family and neighbors about your attempt to perform a BHO extraction and your Chinese heat mat from amazon was defected shorted out Johnny came in flicked the light switch there was a spark and an explosion and you and Johnny boy are now scattered piece on the neighbors roof in yard in pieces so no heat mats use hot water a temp gun dry ice not sure what kind of BHO system you have but the (37 degrees celious O warm chases the cold subzero -O method works if you can get those exact temps working for ya make sure your running the best quality butane and your material is not like hash sift kief material or you will get lipids and waxes in through your micro screen gaskets and your run will make you RSO oil instead of honey golden that's been my experience with my extraction unit guys.

I will add again Face Dog is on point with being safe and up to code safety and handling Dangerous extraction equipment cutting corners sometimes can cost you a lot including life and death so everyone be safe if you don't know an answer to a question related to extractions there are enough of us on here and safety is number 1 Quality 2 production 3 follow those steps in everything you do and trust me life will be good

hello everyone Lone Wolf Extracts here Now my question to the family on here that have done lots of BHO extractions whats the oldest material that you have used ? I had about 3 lbs 10 months old what do you guys think ?

IMHO the difference will be a darker yield due to decarboxylation usually a more red color tone to it.
I had acquired a half skid-load 2 years ago of trim that had been accumulating at a grow for the best part of a year and it took me about 2 weeks to run it all and those batches that were used for shatter and oil I applied color remediation via Buchner filter yet afterwards the product still had a barely detectable red color tinge.

I extracted some 2017 cured buds in 2021. The concentrate was dark and sedative.
