I find it HILARIOUS that the White House took the time to "debunk" the information that Beck is disseminating to the public. Or even better yet, pointing out the fact that Valerie Jarrett wasn't on the phone call between the NEA and Buffy Wicks. Even though Beck NEVER SAID SHE WAS. However, Ms. Wicks made it very clear she was in Valerie Jarrett's office and was functioning in a official capacity for her. Beck makes a great analogy... "you know Nixon was never ACTUALLY IN the Watergate hotel". It's a terrible argument made by the WH and once again with all the claims that Beck has made, THIS is the best they can come up with... Wow, kind of gives you the feeling that the WH is UNABLE to make any credible objections to Beck's facts... which isn't surprising since all he's doing is giving FACTS.

I guess they make sense to quite a few people.

I guess the gist of my last post got past you, since the WH is now going to "take him on" and debunk his facts... why is it that the only facts they could kind of take issue with, were the two I listed above. If he is SOOOOO crazy and full of it, why couldn't they debunk his assertions? HMMMM?

Well, as I am myself a recovering alcoholic (once an alcoholic always an alcoholic) my words will never carry any weight as I am an addict.

I respectfully bow out of this debate. I am going back to what this site is for, to help me make my green grow bigger and greener. I do love to debate politics and can easily make an ass out of myself debating my beliefs, along with watching others make an ass out of themselves when they re-butt. I would rather make growing friends than fight politics because I have been around long enough to know I won't change anyones mind and they won't change mine. It's a classic stale mate.

I agree that we disagree, and I will leave it at that. I am going back to check on my garden.

The American public is generally low in intelligence, and easily influenced by the media. The fact that Fox News has higher ratings than any other media outfit only further proves my point. Americans are interesting in being entertained, not educated. Fox delivers the entertainment people want, which is why they are rated number 1.

It has nothing to do with whether the information they disseminate is true or not, and everything to do with the entertainment value of their programming.

I guess I posted this up before you finished adding to your last post since the final part about the conspiracy wasn't there when I threw this one up. However, that's a pretty weak response after all your previous digs on Beck. The fact is the WH said they WERE GOING TO GO AFTER BECK. And they are going to debunk his facts, whether you think they should or not... but it is still incredibly laughable that the two objections they made were so pathetic when all of his months of assertions are "supposedly" so crazy. Cmon WH, tell us the Apollo org DIDNT write the stimulus package... even though it's now been PROVEN they did (just one of many of Beck's crazy theories that were mocked by libs like you). The list is too long to put forth here and it wouldnt do any good anyways. Do you know what a pretty recent survey discovered about Fox News viewers? That they have NO IDEA what's actually going on in the world. I watch many other networks and read many sources that would and do call Fox News out for their "supposed" false statements. The problem is, Fox always has substantial evidence to prove their assertions, while these other networks and people like you, think that simply saying a fact isn't true makes in untrue. I always hear the same thing... Fox News said this, but President Obama said specifically that isn't true... guess what Obama is the bold faced liar, so using the target of the story simply saying the story is false is in NO WAY credible.

I've also seen and read countless attempts to discredit Fox fall on their face, when Fox gets vindicated by documents getting released, long forgotten video being found, or just plain proof that the attempt to discredit them was a fabrication in and of itself. I have naively believed for years that staying informed about current events by getting some news is better than blissful ignorance derived from getting no news. Then Fox News Channel helped demonstrate just how wrong I was.
The Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland conducted a thorough study of public knowledge and attitudes about current events and the war on terrorism. Researchers found that the public’s mistaken impressions of three facets of U.S. foreign policy — discovery of alleged WMD in Iraq, alleged Iraqi involvement in 9/11, and international support for a U.S. invasion of Iraq — helped fuel support for the war.
While the PIPA study concluded that most Americans (over 60%) held at least one of these mistaken impressions, the researchers also concluded that Americans’ opinions were shaped in large part by which news outlet they relied upon to receive their information.
As the researchers explained in their report, “The extent of Americans’ misperceptions vary significantly depending on their source of news. Those who receive most of their news from Fox News are more likely than average to have misperceptions. Those who receive most of their news from NPR or PBS are less likely to have misperceptions. These variations cannot simply be explained as a result of differences in the demographic characteristics of each audience, because these variations can also be found when comparing the demographic subgroups of each audience.”
Almost shocking was the extent to which Fox News viewers were mistaken. Those who relied on the conservative network for news, PIPA reported, were “three times more likely than the next nearest network to hold all three misperceptions. In the audience for NPR/PBS, however, there was an overwhelming majority who did not have any of the three misperceptions, and hardly any had all three.”

Looking at the misperceptions one at a time, people were asked, for example, if the U.S. had discovered the alleged stockpiles of WMD in Iraq since the war began. Just 11% of those who relied on newspapers as their “primary news source” incorrectly believed that U.S. forces had made such a discovery. Only slightly more — 17% — of those who relied on NPR and PBS were wrong. Yet 33% of Fox News viewers were wrong, far ahead of those who relied on any other outlet.
Likewise, when people were asked if the U.S. had “clear evidence” that Saddam Hussein was “working closely with al Queda,” similar results were found. Only 16% of NPR and PBS listeners/viewers believed that the U.S. has such evidence, while 67% of Fox News viewers were under that mistaken impression.
Overall, 80 percent of those who relied on Fox News as their primary news source believed at least one of the three misperceptions. Viewers/listeners/readers of other news outlets didn’t even come close to this total.
In other words, Fox News viewers are literally less informed about these basic facts. They have, put simply, been led to believe things that are simply not true. These poor dupes would have done better in this survey, statistically speaking, if they received no news at all and simply guessed whether the claims were accurate.
And, in addition to a fun bash-Fox-athon, I wanted to add that the PIPA study also documented that those who relied on newspapers as their primary news source were better informed than those who watched any of the television news broadcasts. The only folks more informed than newspaper readers were NPR listeners.
