trimming dry is superior in my book

I definitely prefer trimming dry...i harvested last Sunday morning and i trimmed a few branches wet to compare...heres what i learned

-Definitely lose some smell trimming wet
-its harder to get into and under buds to remove trim leaves when wet. Once the buds shrink they're a lot easier to see and cut off the whole trim leave cleanly
-it slowed my dry significantly...i still have plenty large branches drying that need at least a few more days
-smaller branches dried in about 6 days to 69% RH in jar...gonna burp for a few days and they should stabilize at ~65% for a nice cure
-trimming dry right before jarring preserved ALOT of smell...the branches i trimmed wet still dont reak but im hoping it comes back by curing...i just trimmed and jarred a large branch to spot check for jar readiness that smelled up a large garage in a few minutes (given the RH was a little higher ~72% and needs to dry about 1 more day out of jar)
-trimming dry saved me alot of time as i was able to trim in sections as opposed to all at once

Just my experience and thought id share...i have the two small and two of the large jars in my pics at 62-65% RH and curing.. the fifth one is at 69%RH and just needs to be burped...

Anyone experience something similar? And thanks to all those who recommended i hang my plants whole (or as whole as possible) and trim dry..and to simonD for his cure method...once again this is just my experience and how i will do it for future grows

I like to take any fan leaves off as I find they can curl themselves over the buds. Mind you, there usually aren't any left on by harvest time. I scrog and they get shaded out.

Agreed...i also removed all fan leaves that we're big enough to have their syems visible out of the buds...i left all smaller fans that we're intertwined in the buds and left sugar leaves

60-65% to cure, only having to burp once a week
55-60% to store long term no burping and its still curing

Check out "SimonDs perfect cure every time" sticky in the harvesting and curing forum...its a great read and im giving it a go... one tip tho is to jar em with a lil flex still (not too much)in the stems still bc you can jar around 70% and then burp to slowly stabilize it...if you jar under 55% you're done curing (not in a good way)

Trimming dry is the shit !!
I love how the buds keep the smell and starts to get stronger as soon as you start the cure rather than waiting for the smell to come back

I tried just taking fan leaves off a branch, and hung to dry a few days. With the sugar leaves wilted and dry over the buds, it's real time consuming and almost impossible for me to get rid of the leaves without cutting into the actual bud. How on earth do you trim dry?
I tried it because of the dry humidity, hanging branches to dry in a closed closet dries them way too fast, within three days they are almost crumbly dry, even tho the stems are still bendy

@obijon you just cut them off.. its soo mych easier to trim dry imo but i trim from the bottom up spiraling around the bud

your not trimming dry then... cause they sound still soggy and wet the way you described it.

I'm with you on this, obijohn. I simply cannot get the close groom I like without starting with a freshly-cut branch, and I have to hurry to finish before the wilt sets in. I've never been able to get a satisfactory cleanup on a wilted or dried branch. cn

takes technique, it isn't that hard if you get the hang of it, I've been doing it for /years/ and many people up here do it this way (northern california).
