I'm too short tempered to raise a kid about now. Expensive endeavor also, my parents spent a small fortune on my education. Maybe the next decade.

You see this is the problem with kids through the last few generatiions, they want things that other people tell them they should want. There are a lot of spoilt kids in the world and they are douchebags, world owes me a living kind of kids, blame the media, blame the friends, blame whoever you want, but we screw kids up by just giving them everything they want. I am poor so my daughter never could have the most fashionable stuff and I think that is helping her now.

No kids yet but I would like 1 one day. Preferably a son so I can teach him man things 
. A daughter I would prob have a stroke knowing all the things that girls do now(if I found out my 16/17 year old daughter was fucking a guy id prob flip unless a good boyfriend but still while with a son sit down boy heres a high five lol) I dont look at the financial part thats not what would scare me its the commitment and right now I still wanna be young. I cant wait for the joy of all my lil offsprings first. I want to raise a kid to be the best teach them how to wprk hard for what you get. Things are never handed in life and I want my child yo know that

Kids in your life make you complete no question about it, my life would have been so boring without my kids and I have learnt much from them including how to roll a joint 
I came from a big family we didn't have much money but we were loved and I have some good memories. All I ever wanted was to have children and grandchildren and I have been blessed with both, they change you in a way you can't describe but it feels good and you take the good times with the bad and at the end of the day you care for each other that's what families are for.

was married at age 24.. kids were already there.. wifey had 2 kids before we met.. walked into a relationship with kids.. willingly.. loved the kids.. year later my daughter was born.. cried like a baby.. 4 years later.. son was born.. wifey was a good Mom so I was very lucky.. being a Dad is not easy.. but the rewards are great.. my 13 year old son still hugs dad and mom..

Having had a child after my 20's I can say it's the best thing to ever happen to me. Sure there's fear and frustration but it's a mere drop in the ocean of love and fulfillment I get everyday. I see an opportunity to right wrongs and give an example to those that come from a similar back round that cycles can be broken.
It's not for everyone. The unstable, the issue laden, the overly selfish, the unempathetic need not apply.
and if you don't have patience I'll give you my answer to most internal issues. Learn how to meditate and do it daily.

OP, you haven't said how long you have been together before you were married but as you are in your early 20's it would probably be better to love and live for a few more years. The fact that you're still contemplating proves that you're not ready-yet. You said your wife is 50/50. Why not wait a bit? You've got loads of time. Some of my best years were in my 20's and wouldn't have happened if I'd had children.
rest of my family older bro.. was 40 when he had his 1st kid.. his wife really didnt want them.. but she changed her mind after about 10 + years or so.. My sister was 37 when she had her 1st.. my younger bro is 30.. still in the not having kid mode too..
I mean the sooner you have kids.. the sooner they can do housework/yardwork etc. right? pretty sure my folks had kids cause there were no remote controls for the tv back then..

I think most people feel they need children for a sense of control, as a source of some sort of redemption for their own life, sort of like being able to "do it all over again" with what i know now, but jam it down a kids throat...people who have children and know they are bringing in a delicate life to this world, should raise their children in a much happier manner.... with a nation at 70% of people on some sort of anti depressant, parenting techniques are the root of any and all issues...how come any one is able/ feels they have the right and deserves to be a mother/father, but even to get a drivers license you need to pass an test. Our education, our unemployment, our drug issues all stem from parenting, maybe that should be a required class before people conceive, LOL
People say "Oh you have no right to tell me how to raise my child" Oh yeah well if he is growing up in our society and will be a part of it, i think i do have an opinion on how people raise their children...The proof is in the pudding... look at how our own government performs and we still have the audacity to sit and say its because this guy or that guy, didn't their parents do a job about teaching them what compromise, reading, writing, life skills, are.... or did they place them in front of a tv, sponge bob proven to make kids dumber, they yell at kids when just yelling at a kid is proven to damage their brain. Having kids isn't the problem,.... its the wrong people having kids, at the wrong time in their life, which creates a struggle for 18 years at least right off the bat... just saying in our "anti baby" side, We don't hate kids, we just see the freedom taken away, the average slob always unhappy, and parenting that leads to another miserable shlub, cycle goes on, therapist make the money, jail systems, job security of america is the unhappiness of america, tell me how many anti depressant pills you saw on tv commercials today.... mostly problems from parental issues not dealt with, or dealt with wrong.

Can't agree with everything you say mate, but damn, you make some compelling arguments. I reckon it's what you make of it, without my kid I don't think would have achieved what I have, she is the only thing that motivates me, money doesn't motivate me, power doesn't motivate me, nothing motivates me like she does. Oh and she is handy with a pair of nun chucks.
