Does Mylar actually reflect 95% of light? when they say this do they mean 95% of the energy of each photon or 95% of the photons are reflected? is UV reflected by Mylar? does uv diminish by traveling through air?

Hey mindphuk. I was reading your comments on a light forum and was wondering if you could help me out. I think I have a pretty good physics understanding of light but not a great horticultural one. As far as I understand, light intensity diminishes because it comes from a point source so the further away you go the more the photons diverge creating less density. I Posted a forum about this and people seem to think that individual photons actually loose energy the further they travel. I dont think this is true. I have a 2x4 95% reflective Mylar tent and a 400w hps in it. So my question is, would the distance from the light to my plants change the lux by very much assuming distance does not "change" photons but simply allows them to spread. In this case the way i see it is spread is not the enemy as all the light must be reflected through the 8 square foot theoretical "plane" that is at the top of my plants.

What kind of set up do you have?
