  • Hi there MustangRacer...well ive been browsing round n stuff. I Can telll that your one of the more experienced vets. Was wondering if you can be of help. Ive been doing hydro for some time now, with not much good results. I wanted to switch over to soil. Heard its much easier, but not my ball park. Was wondering if you can help a fellow hobbyist in a feed-chart n instructions on how to start with soil??? Would really preciate your experienced knowledge buddy if you can help.
I appreciate the wave mustang. I joined here to get information for my first little grow ( i'm a older guy with a new mmj card) but somehow let myself get drawn into the prop 19 "debate". I received a few bites from the guard dogs on those threads so it's nice to just get a hello from someone.
Man, used to live a bit north of you in Cresent City...man I miss those days! Now I'm here in
and the grass really sux down here! Though, for me shitty grass is a Godsend. Can't afford the good shit here. Gots no job right now. Anyways, serious buds cost serious money...300o or better! Only people who grow it or have a high paying job can afford those kind of prices. I smoke an o a week by myself...really heavy smoker...1200 a month! Shit, that's a car payment or someones morgage for the month. Tell me why does it cost so much??
yes you got it right with the buckets yet I would ph to 6.0 - 6.5 and you could wait up to a month with fox farm on the nutes but I juiced my girls from the 1st moment I moved them into the 5gal. pots from the 1gal. I got them in, (are you outdoor bucket or indoor?) I will say that soil is far more forgiving than any other medium I have worked with. now my son when he was about 17 did a home made DWC with a fish tank two plants and a turtle and surprised the shit out of me with his results. it was my boys 1st grow and he just dropped 5 seeds in and got two fems. they got about 3ft out of the water and yielded about 5oz. without doing any real work on them lmfao and here I sit busting my ass. and as far as the help no prob. bro shit its all about raising the bar so we all get baked better lol
Ah ok, I understand a good amount of that... :) So if I just went with using pots then use a 10gal, fill the bottom 3in of pea gravel then fill the rest up with fox farm ocean forest correct....? Noting else is needed in that mix...? And for water use a pH balanced 5.2 with nutrients or wait on the nutrients for awhile until she gets going....? 2nd week in use nutrients...? Oh and yes I would love to talk to your collective owner about the DWC setups, so far 90% of my plants are in a DWC setup and only 1 in soil for the time being... I would love to just stay with soil and not bother with the DWC setups, just I took a liking to the whole setup and all the stuff that it takes to grow plants in just water and non-porous medium... Maybe I should just keep it plain and simple, not saying soil growing is simple because I have failed once before with 2 plants miserably... Any ways I am looking forward to your response as well as hearing from your friend, thank you for your time and answers.
hey thank you glad you enjoyed the journal I have not done a DWC yet however one of my collectives owners is thinking about try one he is off for the holiday should be back around wens. I will ask what his research has yielded for you. as far as soil I have a couple answers for you. dependent on where you live and soil make up is i.e. mostly silica or clay? then are you thinking of doing in the ground bore drop for plant with amendments or pots? 1st if doing a bore drop you really need to know your ground but I would say as a general bore drop plan, would be 4ft wide from center 4ft deep. then fill 2in. bottom with quarter sized rock or lava, then 4in. pea gravel as your drainage base to the bore. next 6in. to make up the 1st ft. of the hole would be 60% fox farm ocean forest & 40% of your bore dirt (if your ground dirt is good, if not then perilite) then fill rest with fox farm & plant. if in buckets use 10gal. (i am in 5's now and kick myself) with bottom 3in. pea gravel & fox farm.
I like your journals, I am still going through all of them :P Its taking awhile, lol... What type of grow medium do you recommend in Soil Setups and in DWC Setups...?
yah thats a good idea. alright thanks alot! thats all i was looking for. i dont know why i was so unsuccessfull. i did everything right by the sounds of things. (except for the dome) ill put a dome over them too next year. with lots of holes in it to try and stay away from my mold issue.
so do pucks. theyve got the trays and i just drop them into soil. but should i try rockwool next year? ill try anything. i only got 5 successful clones out of 25 cuttings. thats pretty fucked. i dont think i did anything THAT wrong. but i must've right? :p ill try rockwool next year.
yah i pierced it, but a quarter inch? i only pierced the skin of the stalk all around it, like .10in. deep. i didnt water with anything special though. ill do that this year. thanks alot man!
and so it doesnt matter that i just push em into the puck?
yah, you probly can, its simple,..i just cant clone :s :p im new too it, and this year i took a bunch of clones off a bunch of different mothers. (so its not the strain) i took a bunch, dipped them all in gel. and put them all in peat pucks. the pucks sat for weeks under a flourescent bulb (just a household one :S) and after about a month, only five had roots coming out the bottom. the others were dying off. i dont know what i did wrong though. a friend of mine said i should poke holes in the pucks first so im not wiping any gel off the cuttings. what do you think? i just want to be a bit more successful next year as i am an outdoor grower.
yah its a pretty sick shot, ive got too get some of mine uploaded, mine are only about 3 weeks into bud though. just starting to get hairy :p. hey, sorry, if you know anything about cloning can i ask you something? nobody will answer my thread :s
