RDWC nutrient change question

So I just flipped to flower about 4-5 days ago and have a question regarding reservoir changes and my particular nutrients...
Im using Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow/Bloom A+B. I’m wondering if I will need to completely drain the reservoir when switching from Sensi Grow to Sensi Bloom. By “completely drain” I mean draining ALL of the nutrient solution from the system. Typically when I do res changes there is about an inch or so of nutrient solution left in the system. That’s as far as I can drain it without busting out the shop vac. Will that be a problem when switching from Sensi Grow to Sensi Bloom?

You should have no problem. If it's a real concern you can always flush out the excess with water before adding the new nutes. And for the record, you can save a few bucks and use Sensi Bloom for both veg and bloom. Good luck!

thanks! By flush out the excess water do you mean just adding straight water into the system to dilute even more and then draining again?

I really have no idea what he meant, could you please explain what you understood? How can I flush out excess with water? I thought he meant adding water after draining to dilute and drain that again as well...

I grow in one gallon hand-watered containers. I mix one gallon of nutes and keep one gallon of clear water for topping off the nute gallon as it gets used up. Once a half gallon has been used for topping off, I change the nutes. For me (and others) this is enough to flush out any excess salts etc. Between veg and flower, I'll usually run a clean gallon of water (with nothing but H2o2) through each container a few times. In RDWC, you can just top off your res with clean water as needed.

Oh okay... I thought you were referring to a method for rdwc which I wasn’t aware of and that got me excited lol... I guess we the rdwc guys are stuck with some excess until the end of harvest no matter how many clean refill-drains we do. Unless there’s a drainage tap or something on the buckets individually.
Thanks for the clarification though :peace:

I used to use a WaterFarm which had the view/drain tube built in on the front. In your case, you might be able to place a marker at the point where your res is full and then top it off with fresh water. If you can get the lid of your res to move a little, you can always try getting one of these siphon pumps in there.
