Main line topping question

I just topped this little guy yesterday. I trimmed the round leaves off then the level above that(the first level of jagged leaves where just a single leaf protrudes from each side. In the picture you can see 2 remaining nodes. Should I go ahead a cut off the bottom node?

You can chop the lower nodes or just leave them and make it a 4 way mainline. You can make the plant do pretty much what you want. I’ve done it both ways and the 4 way is pretty fun to play with but more manageable with just the 2 mains then your side nodes are the only ones you let grow off those 2 mains. The ups and down nodes just chop them off. Sometimes they won’t grow very symtrical so just play with it and have fun

Yo I appreciate the response. I couldnt have asked for a better answer. Thats exactly what I needed to know. Ima go ahead and chop the lower nodes, more manageable seems right for me at this point in time. Depending on how well it goes I may try the 4 way on the 2 that I have going that are 2 weeks younger.

I’m new so I don’t have tons of experience but I’d leave them on for like a week.

I had two plants, one just topped and one manifolded. Topped them both at the third node and stripped everything under off the manifold plant. It ended up taking a lot longer to get going again then the plant that I left the lower stuff on.

It seemed like the extra leaves helped it recover and grow faster initially.

I already knocked them off and tide the fan leaves 90 degrees. the plant isnt showing any signs of stress yet but we'll see why she looks like tomorrow
Try lst next time, no slowdown and once dominance is broken plant grows huge, every branch is another top. By far the best way lve found for getting big plants. Even canopy and every bud almost exactly same. Even main cola will be same as bottom branches. Kushman crack at same time as lst for better results. Builds branch strength. Stop all lst by week 2 of flower. Too ridgid will break! And you want all buds standing straight up. They get bigger if standing up! Just my opinion and l do afford my plants alot of time. I train at least once a day. But you can stop when happy with shape of plant. Goodluck sorry for writing saga!

Typically you want to wait until it is a little bigger to chop that much stuff off. You may see a slow down in development but that is just because the roots are small. Waiting until the plant/roots are bigger will have less of an impact. But it looks good, I am mainlining three blueberrys right now.

I would also give Fimming a shot I’ve had some good success with it and if done right can produce 4 new branches instead of the 2 you get when topping. As long as you leave like one leaf on the plant it will continue to grow it may slow it down but it’s a weed it will grow and they will take a lot of punishment so play with it and have some fun. I enjoy making them so weird things like taking branches and bending them in all different shapes to get the canopy level. Twist it here pinch and bend it there and so on. I have split the stalks in the center on mainlines and just tape it up and it doesn’t even slow it down so don’t get to worried about messing it up

Thanks for the info!! Heres an update picture of the little guy. He survived the chop but growth slowed wayyyyy down. There were a few factors at play tho. Circumstances changed and I had to move him out into the wild. So it went from 24/7 lights to 12/12. And one night I went out and the pot was flipped over basically laying on the plant. Like I said had to move it into the wild. Prolly an armadillo. But n e way it seems all those factors stunted growth pretty badly but shoot hes still hanging in there!

They can take a lot of abuse, give then a good watersupply, very close! And they will suprise you. In a good way! Plant a few feet from edge of pond or resivoir.
