How Much Perlite

I started using perlite 100% perlite in 1996 as advised by my hydro shop attendant. we became good pals and he tought me everything he knew..he was a a master grower and hooked me up with several good seeds like romper stomper which a lot of my customers thought id spiked with ketamine or something. No just perlite, canna a and b and pk 13/14 in flower. Most smokers loved it igot around 360grams per 400watt bulb every ten weeks.
Growing in straight perlite i have no deficiencies and now with LEDS there is no heat and no evaporation so the drainage properties work well.

When i got into vertical i tried coco and perlite 20% but kept getting deficiancies..went to straight perlite again and got record yeilds of 48 ounces for one 600 watt bulb. tasty shit too. no deficiencies if used nutes at half strength 1ml pk/13/14 per litre.
Then canna boost went on the market i bought some and flavour was great..didnt notice any other effects except maybe some more frosty buds and my ozone generator and carbon filter were on 24/7 as the smell was that bad.
Perlites cheap and grows better than coco for me..wont do DWC or other flood and drain etc systems as power in my town cuts out every two weeks for 21 hours or so...plants would be dead.

I'm currently having my first grow in autopots, 70/30 Coco/ perlite,, and so far it is kicking,, love the simplicity of the system, and not watching all your nutrients go to runoff every time you water,, I wonder how straight perlite would go in an autopot

Also ….. Vermiculite ( garden’s red headed step child ) … one of my favorite elements in my garden.

It works fantastic in soil matrix either with perlite or alone . It helps keep Nutes available and moisture to roots while providing aeration. Here is a 3:1 blend of Vermiculite to Perlite blended tester grow. Container was completely rooted and white.

COCO :

When I used to do coco , I would do coco coir blends with vermiculite and found it a simple and effective substrate.
Stupid easy.

Hempy / Dutch / SIP :

I would also run 3:1 perlite to vermiculite HEMPY .
OCTOPOTS I would go back to opposite 3:1 with vermiculite dominate over perlite amount.

Enjoy.
