Hey guys first time grower here on my first harvest. Right here I got a LSD auto that sprouted on April 11, don't remember the breeder but got the seeds online. Was wondering what you guys thought about this very top cola in this picture. I'm pretty sure it's not ready yet and I feel like im seeing something in this picture that's not good but I'll see if you guys point it out. I don't have a magnifying glass yet so it's hard for me to see trichomes at this point and I'm just zooming on my pictures. It may just be my first grow jitters. Growing in ebb and flow, 5 gallon buckets filled with hydroton. Using some advanced nutrients 3 part formula as well as some hydro guard every feeding.

Pistilate still look white in some spots and haven’t receded into the calyx yet. I’d says give it a week or 2 but just watch it. Don’t flush your plant just lower feeding. I don’t grow hydro so I can’t give nuts advice. I got my hand microscope for $13 on Amazon, maybe invest? Give it another week and post an update. This is up to you at this point if you want to cut or not. Worst case you have about 25% clear trichs and 75% cloudy. It’ll get you high. What you don’t want is a 50% cloudy to 50% amber. You lose a lot of potency and the smoke will just make you lazy and tired. Amber trichomes are from thc breaking down into cbn. Good luck friend

Hey there Kiwi, thanks for the reply. I guess what's throwing me off is just how fast this plant matured but if it looks ready it must be nearly there! I also found a glass on Amazon but it won't be in till Thursday. I will wait until then and see how the plant looks then. Thanks for all the info, it sounds like I will be aiming for harvest right before the amber trichs start coming in, thanks man.

no problem. I’m not an advanced grower, but I’ve done a lot of research on the plant itself and in doing so, I’ve been able to have beautiful and tasty harvests. Always harvest after amber trichomes start showing up. It’s all personal preference. Auto flowers are known for going from seed to harvest in as little as 3 months. They don’t yield a lot most of the time, but you can find some autos than can produce a quarter pound no problem. I personally run photo period plants because I like to have more control. Just give it time! All plants mature at different rates.

When I look at your pics blown up the trichs look mostly clear but a lot starting to get cloudy so you have a week or more yet. I like to start cropping when almost are have gone very milky and a few amber are showing up here and there. I take the top colas first then give them up to two weeks to ripen and fatten up the lower stuff. I trim fresh off the plant then slo-dry in doubled up paper bags in a cool dark place for up to 3 weeks then burping in jars for another month.

Looking good!

I wouldn’t dry in a paper bag. The paper pulls moisture from the buds very quickly. Also, I find dry trimming to be nicer than wet trimming. Wet trimming for me gives the buds a strange fresh cut flavor kind of like fresh cut grass. Maybe that’s just me

Yeah it's definitely looking like I will have to be harvesting the top colas first because the lowers still look a little behind so I will try that out.

I think it's just you. It takes up to 5 weeks to get them dry enough to put in cans for burping sometimes and they are still moist enough to form one big mass at first. I use plastic tobacco cans for that as they have smooth walls on the inside and a partly filled can will just slide right out into a tray for gentle breaking up. Air dry for 15 min then back in the can. I'm smoking 5 yo bud that still smells heavenly when you crack the lid. I have a dozen strains at hand so never get bored with my bud. Turn a nice colour with a proper cure too. No green to be seen and I've been doing it like this for almost 20 years. I tried hanging and dry trimming and did not like it. I don't like trimming at all with my arthritis so a lot gets a light trim and frozen fresh for making into edibles. Freezer is getting crowded. :) Just the best colas get cured up for smoking.

I put the paper bags in a container after the first week to slow the drying more too. Tried from the start but too wet and some got mould but they lose a lot of weight in a week but nothing ever gets dry so curing is going on. Anything that gets dry stays green and no longer cures. Like sweating tobacco in bales to cure it.

Some OG#18 before and after.

Not dry enough to smoke but almost there at 6 weeks. Still have about an oz of this left too. Gets better with age.

Looking good. Probably ready in 2 weeks.

I live in an environment of low humidity, around 10%, and I only wet trim. I sometimes use paper bags to slow moisture evaporation. Wet vs dry trimming is a preference that doesn't effect your cure. My bud's don't taste like hay. If yours do you need to look at how you cure and some other less common factors.

Only my first 2 runs tasted funky, but then again I only got 15g off each plant
