All of my favorite strains in one seed...

I've been growing on and off (mostly on) since '94, so a decent number of strains have crossed my path. I've done a bit of pollen chucking over the years, even got lucky a time or two, but I've never put any effort into a proper breeding program. That is about to change. Finally crossed the two parents I've been pheno hunting for the last 2 years or so and the seeds are ready for planting. Here is the genetic makeup.
((Northern Lights x Skunk #1 x Shiva Skunk x Afghani) x (Pakistani x Super Skunk)) x (Tahoe OG x Purple Urkle)

Looks ridiculous, but essentially parent A is a stable NL x Skunk crossed with a stable Paki x Skunk. The guy who taught me to grow and mentored me spent about a decade breeding and stabilizing it. Crossed that with parent B which is Orkle by IHG (Tahoe OG x Purple Urkle). Both strains are among my all time favorites and I've been working on finding the best examples to breed. It is going to be a bit before i start running the first batch, but most likely this thread will be where i post the process of growing, pheno hunting, and stabilizing this cross. Feel free to comment and follow along.

Something I want to add. This project is special to me for several reasons. The parent of this cross that was bred by my mentor is like a beautiful time capsule of a particular point in time when Northern Lights and Skunk where king and the genetic lines where unbroken. This strain has been genetically isolated since 1993. That is an absolute gift in my mind. An unbroken line to 2 legendary strains. So for me, working this strain is a tribute to my mentor and to these undeniably influential strains.
As for the other parent.... Orkle is just awesome. How can you go wrong with Tahoe OG and Purple Urkle?

Should be cool to see the results! I totally appreciate the idea of the old genetics that havn't been mixed up the last 20 years.

Awesome! That would definitely be the most amazing strain. I wonder what would be the taste.
Both of the parents have excellent flavor, so I am hopeful that i can find a phenotype that expresses the best of both. The orkle leans towards its OG side flavor wise but with a good amount berries and earthiness from the orkle.
The other parent is hard to describe but definitely owes most of it's flavor and smell from its various skunk genetics. Fingers crossed for a keeper!

Holy shit! talk about a lack of updates. I just remembered this thread existed while mentioning the project to @xtsho in a different thread.

Anyway, I do have a brief update for anyone who initially showed interest. I am currently on F6 of this cross. It's already showing great uniformity and I'll probably be calling it done with the F7s. I've got both parents and the cross going in my flower room right now and am a few weeks out from harvest. I thought I'd show you what the parents are looking like and then I'll give you all a reveal when the cross is a little closer to harvest.

Here is parent A: ((Northern Lights x Skunk #1 x Shiva Skunk x Afghani) x (Pakistani x Super Skunk))

And parent B: Purple Urkle x Tahoe OG

I'll update with pics of the F6 results in a week or two.

Nice one dude! I'm growing out some old shiva skunk beans from Sensi at the moment, had 3 left from a pack I got in 2003. Also got some old NL#5 growing too! Love the old stuff, it still floats my boat and has done since the early 90's :)
Hell yeah! I started smoking weed in the late 80s and grew my first plant in or '92 or so, so these strains have a special place in my heart! Have you checked out Authentic Genetics Seed Co? Todd has gotten his hands on the real deal NL #1, NL #5, Skunk #1 and a bunch of old school hazes. Love to see what you're running.

Nice one!! The old stuff from the 80's and 90's was just awesome hey, I love that it's making a comeback. I have seen Todd's offerings but can't get access to them here in Aust so I'm just growing out what I have held onto. I have some of Sam's old skunk beans too but I need better filtration to grow them out, they bloody stink hahaha.
Here's a shot of what I've got going at the moment..
Sensi shiva skunk, Nature Farms shiva redux, NF SSxSk 18, MSSxSS, NL#5, white skunk and my Blueberry! The shiva skunk are the two front left :)

Well done I can imagine it probably feels great to look at your progress growing.
Feels great! Being able to put all these legendary genetics together and come out with something that checks all my boxes is super rewarding. Stabilizing it and creating seed stock for myself is also a great feeling. Thanks for the love!

You should name it after your mentor. Both parents look incredible and so does that F6! You starting to sell beans?
Thanks for the kind words!! Parent A was never formally named, and since it was crossed and stabilized by my mentor I think naming it after him is the right thing to do. Once I figure out what to exactly call that one it will probably influence the name of my cross.
And no, no plans to sell beans. I've never been in this for profit. I've never sold anything I've grown. I've gifted people buds, clones, and even seeds a few times, but I have never taken money from anyone. Maybe in the future, if I have the space and the time, I'd consider it.

Yeah, parent A is chocked full of genetics from the old European seed banks. The NL and skunk #1 in particular were obtained before a large amount of the source genetics were lost.

That is good to know, indeed. Out of the 3 seeds, I have 3 different pheno's. One super short and squat (f), one taller (f) and one that does not grow like a normal plant and smells very rancid (m). I'm hoping to get some pollen off the male so I can make a few extra seeds of them.
