You could grow one huge plant under 600watts, or 16 small ones. There is no way to measure plant count based on power consumption.
That 1500w heater you use in the spare bedroom when it gets cold or that AC unit in the bedroom when it gets hot also throws a monkey wrench in the works when it comes to someone trying to nail you based on power usage. I'm sure my neighbors' heated pools with requisite pumps use more power than any of my growing has.

*quietly walks over to my 2500w bass amp that's fed by an all tube preamp and turns it on alerting the police to my grow*

Not really, especially with many folks driving electric vehicles these days. Charging your EV over night is about the same amount of power as running a 5x5 grow room with AC and a dehuey.
Good point. I guess it would also depend on how anti-weed a legal state is; something like the op's state. But really, unless it's a situation where they are randomly inspecting your grow, they really wouldn't know if you're over the count. Still, those like op who need a permit are walking on egg shells.

If you're inside and keeping things to a very dull roar, no one in the neighborhood should even know you're growing. Even in a legal state it's worth keeping your public exposure to a bare minimum, not just due to the Fed next door. Our state is still figuring out the home-grow aspect of our legalization, though I assume they won't make us register...though even so, I won't be. They also decided that anyone who has an apiary on property needs to register with the state...and I'm not doing that either. So far not a single rando inspector has shown up to root through my hives...and they're outside not hidden in the basement.

My take is this: You're allowed 6 plants. Autos will flower out in little time, so you get smoke fast. But with photos the plants can get bigger = more buds. Personally I'd rather wait an extra few months and get more buds that will last longer until the next grow

:D I was just wondering the same thing. What law do they prosecute under in a legal state when you grow over the count?
The law that your over the limit so possibly back to illegal cultivation plus some states like mine have limits on what you can have dry. So even though its a seatbelt law there are people law enforcement would love to find a reason to start adding up offenses. Possibly intent to distribute etc. murky but id rather not give the state any more money than i have too and certainly not looking to do time. If you think busts don’t happen in legal states idk

Had to lookup apiary:D I think the more that big commercial expands, the more the states will mess with small personal growers in order to ensure that the commercial gets a profit. But then again, if you're personal ( not growing to sell) there shouldn't be any issues.

Yea, I know busts happen in legal states. It's my understanding that it's big grows, though. Weed is only legal in legal states because of the money that they can make, and big so called illegal grows are most likely not paying the taxes that the legal states want.
"but id rather not give the state any more money than i have too and certainly not looking to do time". AMEN!

Ya your never gonna get busted in your house unless they end up there for something else and probably not in any real trouble a couple over but it certainly not a free for all here if you do fuck up. Im hearing 500$-5k and or up to 2.5yrs. here.

Autos will get you bud quicker but photos absolutely have more potential for larger yeilds. Some people that are good at growing autos can pull a decent yeild but I have also seen laughable yeilds from autos. Photos on the other hand you control how large you grow your plant before you flower it so you just have that much more time to grow your plant during veg. Maybe a compromise can be made 2 autos and 4 photos, get you an auto harvest mid way through your photo grow then flower out your photos as long as needed for the bulk of your harvest?

Thats if they dont go the fuck this guy route and start trumping other shit up. Just not really worth it to me. Even if its just cut the plants down it all cost money

Its worth reading the laws that apply in your state & town.

I'm in NYS, so I'm aware that it's not legal to grow yet (they've codified that legal won't be until a certain number of months after retail opens (IIRC, that's 18mo after retail). I also know that the state will allow 6 plants (but that would be 3 in flower, 3 in veg.) per person but capping at 12 per household. The caveat there is that individual towns/municipalities can deviate downward in those numbers so long as it's not to disallow (zero plants)...meaning my town may only allow 1 & 1 per person, etc.

In the meantime, I'm just doing what I do and keeping quiet about it.

Seems that anyone interested in Auto's would do well by checking out Mr.Canuck's style

I know that the water companies keep track. One of my swamp coolers was overflowing for a week and they came out to see why I was using so much water. That's when I discovered the problem with the swamp. Too much draw through a smart meter (for those unlucky enough to have one) would also make them think something was up.
I had to laugh at our Water Company wanting to know why we was using so much water.

Hey it's middle of Summer watering stuff.
