I'm stressing out about this newly built RDWC I made with HDX totes--surfaces aren't perfectly 90 degrees to the ground, so I think the bulkhead is struggling to make a good seal--and there are a number of minor leaks as a result. At least I think that's what's going on.

Hey, I was reading something you wrote in a thread a little while back about sealing bulkheads with permatex. I was wondering do you apply a line of the gasket maker right in the middle of the gasket, closer to the threads, or does it just not matter? Thanks!

Thanks for your input on the subject. Are you still running a sterile reservoir using pool shock btw?

I was reading what you said about pool shock in a thread from a couple years back, and was wondering why you warned against using 4 in 1, or 7 in 1. I'm about to give pool shock a try in a new RDWC system and just wanted to be sure this is the one you're recommending: "HTH 67156 Shock Pods Care...

    RDWC Questions

Thanks for your input. I was thinking of raising the return lines to as high as half way up the buckets to be able to run a line(s) outside the tent without a crazy "caterpillar" bend. Now I'm leaning more towards just having the reservoir in the tent to avoid having to do this. The way I'm...

    RDWC Questions

I'm finalizing my design for a RDWC run, and have some basic questions that may or may not influence my end build. 1) Does it mater how high up you place PVC on buckets? Can it be roughly half way up the bucket, or is lower better/necessary? 2) I was wanting to place the control bucket...

    Reliability and Value of Chillers

I'll definitely do that, thanks. I said I'd meet with him in two days, giving myself some more time to gather info. I'm not real mechanically inclined, but hopefully I can get a pretty good idea of the condition at a glance. He says it's in good condition, and works well, so we'll see.

    Reliability and Value of Chillers

I've been looking into maybe getting a chiller as I prepare for an RDWC run with ~100 gallons. I found a 1/4 HP, or maybe 1/3 HP (seller says it's a DBM-250, but also says 1/4 HP, so IDK) Arctica chiller on CL for $350, but I have no way of knowing what this thing is worth. I see that 'new' it...

Who grows DWC without a chiller?

I'm about to start my first RDWC run without a chiller. Being in the garage (concrete floors), and having fair weather here, I'm hoping I can avoid problems. If I'm using an inline water pump, is it only the ambient temperature of the grow tent/surrounding environment that's affecting the water...
