    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Wondering what people are doing with SIPS and humidity? I have a growbox that has been in the garden and I just pulled it inside. I have about 400 W of LED and pretty good circulation with fans. I have a 6" vent fan on an Inkbird system and the fan is constantly on since bringing it in. I can't...

    Extreme heat!!

It’s so rare that we need cooking where we live. Within 3 mionths we will be back to cool/cold weather where heat becomes a bigger issue

    Extreme heat!!

Well, looks like we will be shattering some records here in the next few days! I’ve got my plants flowering indoors, with the lights on at night. This works fine for our normal, moderate temps. We are forecasted for 102 and 108 Sunday and Monday. I don’t have ac, but do have 2 exhaust fans...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

Completed my first cycle with a no-till in a SIP. Had a few issues and sent sample to Logan Lab for testing. Anybody with more experience have an opinion on results? I was able to translate a few of the results, but still unsure if I should try another cycle this route or not. I am using their...

First SIP grow observations and thoughts. With no till soil

So I decided to try a couple of DIY SIPs this cycle. I put 4 clones into the 2 containers and filled them with a Coot's style mix that I spoke about in some different threads. I was interested in trying the SIPs with the no-till approach. I just harvested a decent harvest of GSC and had some...

I'll test after this run. Hopefully the nitrogen will stabilize

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

The only top dressing i did was with some malted barley. I put a mulch cover on top and that is covered in plastic. I have some earthworms in as well

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

That could be what it was. I had high potassium as well in my test. I actually added nitrogen in the form of blood meal because the original test had nitrogen so low and potassium pretty high. Guess i need to do some more research<g

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

It "cooked" for about 3-4 weeks, though I was under the impression that the Coots mix is usable immediately. I used Bo's biodynamic compost

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

I'm kind of falling between a few forums with this, as it is a plant problem with a no till soil in a SIP. These plants were transplanted into the SIP about 7 weeks ago from cuttings. The plants looked great before transplant. The soil is a Coots mix. I had the soil tested before planting and...

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

Any thoughts on amending between grows? I am having a bit of nitrogen toxicity in this run, my first with a SIP and no till. The Coots mix had a very high sodium level as well as high sulfur and then low micros. I'm using TM7 in a light top water application. I'm assuming with the nitrogen...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

My soil mix was a Coots style mix that had some more of the dry amendments(based on some experienced members advice) It had the 1/3 mix of compost(bu's bio), aeration(perlite and pumice) and peat. I had all the rock dusts to the amounts per Coot's recipe. I originally did the 1/2C per CF of...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

This run is a bit of an experiment to get my understanding together with the SIPs and no till. Things are going reasonably well. I'm dealing with too much Nitrogen, that seems to be creating some other issues. This looks to my eye to be a Potassium deficiency(which I had in flower in my last...

Coots style mix really low in Nitrogen- best amendment?

Thanks. A little frustrating that I'm having a bit of a struggle dialing in a mix that delivers what the plants need and nothing additional. I was thinking that to do a no till with a SIP requires a pretty good knowledge of organic composition and evolution. I've seen a few people here have...

Coots style mix really low in Nitrogen- best amendment?

So just as an update—/getting some nitrogen toxicity, and wanted to post for anyone testing a Coots mix. I’m assuming that the super low nitrogen levels from my early test just needed to be broken down. I added a small amount of blood meal before I planted. I’m entering into 5th week of...

That's interesting. I have always shot for around 900 or so at the top, with being ok with up to 1100 or so.

Recycled Organic Living Soil (ROLS) and No Till Thread

Curious to hear what folks do with no till and SIPS as far as amending and preparing between cycles. I’m imagining at very least to clean up reservoir of roots and soil. What would you do as far as amending? I did the trench thing with a bit of dr earth flower girl. Put some malted barley on...

Coots style mix really low in Nitrogen- best amendment?

Still working that out. I'm using big tubs that have heavy plastic over the top. Kind of a hassle to top water them, but it can be done. Kind of have to lift the plastic up on the sides and water underneath

Coots style mix really low in Nitrogen- best amendment?

I'm learning, and skating between a couple of different worlds with the SIPS and the organic no till. The folks here, yourself included, have been so cool in pointing me(and others) in the right direction. When i started this cycle i had a couple of bags of HF soil and the tiro of nutrients. I...

    Lighting

I did a lot of research on lighting before going with Chinese brand LED's, one of them a Spider farmer. Everything about the lights I have bought is great. I have a par meter, and have tested specs, which are right as they say they are, and perform well against American "made" lights of the same...
