160AS Aluminium Power Led Heatsink 250x165x35mm 10$
6x 8x8 Fan 5$ 12v2a adaptor 3$ Cable, plug, solder, thermal 2$
4x 50w full spectrum cob leds 35$ ----->TOTAL 55$

(for veg, white leds are much cheaper 4x 50w for 10$. costs 35$ total.)

i think it is realy worth it in my situtation. The cheapest Branded grow light i can find in my country around 850$ (900W). I can make 1000W full spectrum for 275$. Even chips got burn i can replace them easily and cheap.

It is realy easy to make. I started some bagseeds on 150w cfls. and i changed to 200w white cobs and they loved it so i added 200w full spectrum.I can say, even it is cheap and crappy, it is way better than cfls.
What are you guys thinking about it?
Now i have 1 white and 1 full 200w each going to make 3 more, full spectum. total 1000w for 140x140x200 cm tent. if i can deal with heat i might add more because it is cheap.

what kind of driver is powering the chips? what brand of chips are they? good job on the build man, I think DIY builds are definitely on the rise and becoming much easier!

Not branded they're from china i think. It is without drivers i mean Dob (driver on board), just plug it to 220v . Look like one on the picture but not the same(brand n voltage) . This type doesnt need soldering. some of them need soldering.

i will get a lux meter and gonna test them soon.

Yeah so much easier 5 years ago you had to drill and tap all the holes in a big ass 30lb heatsink to mount the led and you actually had to learn to read data sheets on the chips and the drivers to figure out what you needed. Unfortunately most of the members that made all that happen are gone now or they get trolled by people trying to sell shitty cheap lights

Those have never worked very well I hope you have success with them

I get what you are doing ... I admit I built a light using CPU heatsinks and 2540 cobs . But it didn’t cool all that well.

Anyways , just be careful of active voltages and grounding .

Thanks. I dont expect them to be good as branded pro lights But this is the only one i can afford these times. And i think it will gonna help me for 1 grow. Even they got broken or burn i can replace them easily and cheap. I am counting on that . we will see :)
After 1st harvest, i can make real good benefit from it and i can afford 1-2k watt pro leds and a big tent and all other stuff. Even i got half key. The market is here is wicked man. People are crying.

First, i put 100w x 4 on that heatsink and 3 of them burned :D than i tried 6x50w and it got realy hot . So i decided to put 4x50w and 6xfans . They're cool for now. I can touch and hold the heatsink without any burning feel.

Thanks for caution , it may be dangerous. i am aware of it :)

Quality led are pretty cheap now it probably would have been better to build a lower wattage light with better components. The problem with those is the onboard drivers are not very efficient so you get like half the light per watt. With those you would get the same output and heat as hps lights per watt
