I normally just train them through a cage and continue pulling limbs through as they grow and using alittle selective topping to let lower side stuff to catch up. Nothing special i guess just what I learned but honestly I think I need to learn the outdoor scrog type setup to keep them lower .Thanks again

See... That’s what I’m talking about! Learned an new alternate outside technique. I used altered peony rings with bamboo. Never thought of a cage. May I ask how high the cage is from soil and how restrictive are they during watering/feedings? Btw... how tall are those ladies in your post that you think they should be shorter? Thanks!

The cage size changes but the one on those are 5' and long gone in plant could of used a second one. The rerod stakes are at 10ft and they're almost invisible now. The pots are 18 and 20 inches. The plants are probably around 8 ft but have some decent girth. The cages dont interfere at all because I cut openings for access

Special thanks to both you Bam and Stealthfader for sharing techniques. I thought my 1st outdoor was going pretty well but now see a better vision for next year. I did notice that you, Stealthfader you seem to favor what looks like super cropping over basic topping but soaking all of it in like a sponge as well. Appreciate your openness to share! While visiting a FB group I’m in today, found another posting with a 3rd slightly different technique... (photo credit: Aaron) I love seeing the different approaches at an ultimate divine fall harvest!

The ancillaries aren’t as developed as last year, but then again, I put them in the ground ~2 weeks later this year so they wouldn’t be SO big this year. Talk about first world problems, eh?

One of my Blueberries’ stalk smells just like a muffin; we’ll see what the actual bud smells like.
one of my Gelat.OG’(the short squat one in the back) stalk smells like cocoa powder; again, we’ll see. E365F728-DACB-4DCC-8830-CDD8A43C3A07.jpegB81555B0-2EAE-48DA-9CBA-4B8EC4C46028.jpeg

We have those around here, too. Love foxes. Pissed me off when my neighbor killed one years back, he has chickens but is too lazy/ignorant to protect them properly.

You getting soaked today down there? Been raining steady here since predawn hours.

bgc how come you didnt veg outside? Just curious, looking good anyway
Thanks! I was originally planning to veg and flower these plants inside in tents but decided to move them outside when we started some big home improvement projects. Plumber and electrician appreciate having an empty basement to work in. And I don’t have to worry about construction dust getting sucked into the tent.

1st try at outdoor so fingers crossed it goes well!
