I'm not sure about the rest of you guys, but I'm so ready to move on from 2020. It was a great season from a growers perspective ... most of us had more time at home to spend in the garden, and we had outstanding fall weather ... but everything else pretty much went to shit, and so I'm excited for 2021.

As usual, I learned a few new lessons from last year...

The first is I definitely need help when it comes to harvesting and trimming in the fall. I tried to do it all myself this year and it was a complete nightmare. I basically spent 6 weeks straight trying to get everything down and cleaned up... and I still probably only got to about 50% of it. I froze the rest, and I'm still working on washing it all.

The second lesson I learned is that I don't need twelve foot plants this year. It's just stupid and too much work. This year I'll probably get them in the ground a little later (about may 15th) and just shoot for ten footers. ..lol

The third lesson is that I don't need any outside inputs whatsoever. Last summer I discovered KNF and I ain't going back. I can basically source every nutritional component my grow needs from my own backyard, or from waste. It may not be feasible for someone without some land to work with, but if you have some room it's a no-brainer.

The good news is that I've been through a few healthy snowfalls so far, and the greenhouse isn't going anywhere, it's still standing strong with the new steel hoops. That was last years lesson... don't ever, ever build a greenhouse with pvc hoops in Massachusetts. It'll be nice not to have to rebuild the entire thing this year, so I can move onto some upgrades. I'll be adding 4 circulation fans in all four corners so I can get the fans off the ground this year. I'll also be adding a watering system for each bed... watering every few days from a hose is kind of a pain in the ass. It'll be nice to just hit a button on my phone and that'll be taken care of. I'm also adding another window at the far end of the greenhouse... I originally framed it for a third window but only had two laying around at the time so I just covered it with plastic.

At the moment I'm pheno hunting indoors to find this years keepers. I have a few of my own crosses I'm searching through and a few new breeders i'm excited about. Everything will be new strains though, I'm not keeping anything around from last season.

What are your plans for 2021?

Here's what it looks like out there today....

Glad your new and improved greenhouse has withstood the test of time. I have no idea how I would cope with 12 foot trees LOL. Last year was a huge learning experience for me too, as it was only my second grow and the first time I planted in the ground and had to roll with the tropical storms, thunderstorms, high winds, endless fog in Sept. and Oct. and so forth. What I ultimately learned is the plants are a whole lot tougher than I thought, or at least the imported Afghan and Pakistani strains I grew are.

I ended up with almost 1,000 seeds from selective pollination in the freezer. 10 of them actually popped while still on the plants, so I said WTH and planted them at the end of Oct. Nine made it; I gave away 6 and kept three for what has to be the most abusive ghetto inside grow ever - no dedicated lights, grow tent or any of that stuff - just sunlight in the window and a few more hours under a small light. All three of the little buggers I kept are in flower and my friend says 3 of her 6 are female as well. This one is a Hawaiian Hashbud X Balkhi -

This year's grow will be The Real Seed Company's Tirah Valley, Pakistan. I'll start with ten and see how many girls I end up with. One lesson learned from last year is that these Central Asian plants really want the ground to be warm before transplanting outdoors, so they won't go out until after Memorial Day.

Doing 4 big plants at my buddies farm and some smaller plants in the swamp out back of my house. Digging up 6x6 beds with lots of fertilizer and compost for the big plants and 50 gal swamp tubes for the smaller plants. Hopefully the weather is similar to last year but ya never know.

Strains

Massive seeds-Rogue valley punch

Twenty20mendocino-MMXX

Woodstock farmacy- Galaxial Stardust

Fellow Masshole Outdoor guy here 30+yrs. My grow is usually about 40 adult females maybe the top half ,bottoms all cloned (225-275) a ton of work, job layoff every early winter so it works out for trim(3hrs.every day for about 5-6 wks). Security is issue don't like anything over 8ft. max. use pots for mobility. 10x10 canopy for late season rain. harvest 10-12 lbs of 15-20 strains. do some autos for earlier smoke. hook up a tight circle on the cheap. Quality never an issue, lots of care for the ladies and babies. last fall exc. conditions, if rain holds off til Oct10 I'm more than happy as I grow mostly 8week flower strains, anything longer too long for mother nature IMO.Sept 21-Oct7 the most critical time Sun, low hum.,no rain=home free.ccguns

Nice, I'm not country enough for such a obvious set up like that, though I'd love to have a couple of g.houses to do my work. Probably would try a early herb harvest before real grow season maybe hook up a restaurant w/basil,baby greens, etc. start in Feb. done by April. make a few extra$.ccguns

Getting closer to the starting line for outdoor season. Indoor windowsill grow in the home stretch, the Hawaiian Hashbud x Balkhi is almost done and the Balkhi x Balkhi a couple weeks behind -

hey matty ... I use greenhouse film, here's the description and link:

Sun Selector Clear IRAD Greenhouse Film, 4 year 6mil
Features an IR additive, Anti-Drip (AD) to reduce mold, UVA and dust protection. Features 88% light transmission & 25% light diffusion

I ordered a 48 X 22 sheet for my size greenhouse, and I think it was about $175

Here's where I am so far ... chopped all the winter rye down, topped each bed off with my super soil, and spread clover seed on the 4 beds to the right... the four beds on the left will get the same this weekend. The greenhouse is still a mess and it's driving my OCD crazy.

This is a great time to flower males outside. When I find males in the flower tent I move them out into the greenhouse and they keep flowering.... without having to worry about seeding up everything in the neighborhood. I'll be making a bunch of seeds this year.

Also got my broccoli and cauliflower seeds started in the greenhouse... and my first round of carrots directly seeded into the bed

Mass here

wow and you even had that nifty electric trimmer too!

Yea trimming took foreverrr even with help. Ended up just turning a bunch of my OG Kush into hash.

#1 takeaway from last year: superior end product by letting bud cure hanging whole on plant for 2-3 months BEFORE trimming. Crazy I know, but it’s true for me.

This year I’ll be growing:
GelatoxOG
Peyote Zkittlez
White OG
White Widow(again) - what a great smoke
Blueberry
Cream&Cheese 2:1 CBD:THC

You know they have to harden in the shade before planting right?

Gonna be my first year not using some old bag seed. Got a little over zealous and bought a ton of seeds so I’m only gonna 1 pop of each of the following:

Platinum Garlic (GMO x Platinum) and Deluxe Slurbet (Slurbet x OGKB 2.1) by In-House Genetics

7 Sins (Fatso x Birthday cake), Birthday Blues (Cookie Fam Blue Cookies x Birthday Cake) and Apple Sundae ( Apple Juice x Sundae Driver) By Cannarado

Gushers n Cream (Gushers x Creamsicle #4) , Short Stack (Wedding Cake x Runtz), and MAC Stackz (MacRib x Runtz) by Clearwater Genetics

Big Bad Wolf 2.0 (Chem ‘91 x Chem D) , RIP (Ghost OG x Chem ‘91) and Headband x Chem D by CSI Humboldt

How do you guys go 2 months without it being dust?

Im doing my first outdoor this year. Not sure where to dry the plants though. Where do you all dry just massive amounts? Homeowner said the shed. But I dont see it all fitting.

Im running some Apple Fritter (lumpys cut), NL1BX (AKBB), Wedding Cake (jbeezy cut) and platinum kush mints.

Was going to do some JOTI gods critical cause its supposedly a 50day strain but JOTI takes his sweet time shipping. Most likely wont receive until 2 more weeks. Then I gotta run them to find the females. Not enough time for that.
