Okay guys. Here’s a question I’ve never seen asked. I’m doing a small closet grow with low flyer dwarf auto (4 square ft grow area). My seedling just sprouted. My Vivosun 300w LED is getting the closet WAY to hot (90s). I have a weaker 40 watt LED that keeps the temps at a much better range (70s). If I run the 40w 24/0 would that be similar to running the 300w 12/12 like I was planning?

ANY advice appreciated!

I had the same issue on a grow before adding ac vent to the closet. Leave door open will still work. Just plan on house smelling like weed during flower.

You'll need about 140w for that grow space, 40w won't be enough. Why would you run an auto on 12/12? That's a terrible idea.

Which light is it?
If it's this one then that's only a 135w draw light and you'll need to put both switches on for the entire grow.

The wattage of the bulb doesn't have any bearing on the time it's on/off for, 18/24hrs of 40w or 300w will veg, 12-12 of 40w or 300w will flower.

Understood. I was just thinking that the more time exposed to a weaker light might be equivalent to less time with a more powerful light. Either way it’s gonna flower on its own (auto).

12/12 because the seed bank said with this auto I could do that and I was running 12/12 becuase any longer than that and my closet was cooking lol

Don’t get me wrong. I want to have great results but ultimately I just enjoy growing anything. So if it flowered and gave me something I would be so happy lol (only my 3rd grow).

I'm gonna give you a straight answer.
Yes. You can grow with that shitty 40watt light Iv grown plenty of 1-2 gram plants as a kid under 32 watt cfls. And that's all you'll get per plant that's worth doing. As for your other light that gets to hot. Why is it getting that hot? Im able to run 1000 watt HPS in a spare bed closet and keep temps under 90 with minimal effort. Your led should be cake work.
Is your living space hot as well? I run window ac units in the rooms to keep ambient temp low. The rest is worked by fans moving air.

I'd recommend working your temps in your grow. Getting them consistent. Then go to your next step. Otherwise. Having little light with hurt your everything and the heat with stunt or stop growth
