240v or 120v?

I'm not an electrician, but I believe the answer is basically no. We pay for power based on watts consumed and wattage doesn't change with 120v vs. 240v. What changes is the amps drawn by the device. Amps = Watts / Voltage. So a 400w lamp would draw 3.3 amps at 120v and 1.7amps at 240v. Amps changed but the watts consumed didn't = same electricity usage.

I believe there can be a small advantage in efficiency by using the lower amp draw of 240v though. But unless you've got thousands of watts of usage, I think the difference is of little consequence.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

there you go quer dush bag.

And by the way, you just proved you know absolutly nothing about electricty. Volts has nothing do do with cost. Its just a different electricity configuration.

Are 240v lights cheaper to run than 120v lights?
we are talking about lights here... not digital ballasts

p.s. thats not information... thats advertising,, i know its hard for kids to learn from anything else... why dont you look up what a volt is while you are searching around the internet

scroll down jus a wee bit

Why are there separate ballasts for 120v or 240v?
Lumatek ballasts are voltage specific and cannot be modified to change the input voltage. The 240v digital ballast is much more efficient, producing more light while generating less heat than its 120v counterpart. Other dual input voltage digital ballasts can never achieve the same efficiency as dedicated 240v versions.

Think before you rip son....

Wow i wonder who gave me a neg rep.... I get negative repped for some helpful info, and on top of it reffering to my info as a 'sale rep'. Were talking about electricity you dumb fuck, not lumatek. Wowowowowow newwwwb. Everyone please do this dush justice and neg rep his fagot ass!

May seem steemed, but that was uncalled for, he just cant handle a couple hurtful words, kid mus b 15.

so are you telling me if i hook my multi-tap ballast direct wire it will make my bulb put out more lumens? because i dont recall anyone asking about Lumatek digital ballasts that probably cost and arm and a leg

no......the only benifits of running 240v is less amps and prolonged life on equipment.....thats it...watts is watts is watts...it doesnt matter how many volts you are using:hump::joint:
