48 Darkness before harvest

Here’s a little something from high times.

When the relative humidity in the garden is low, your resin production will increase. This is a natural response cannabis has to dry air, an attempt to protect itself from hot, dry conditions. Marijuana resin actually has one of the highest UV-resistance ratings in the plant kingdom. The resin reflects light, preventing the buds from getting sunburn. (This is also why it’s so easy for helicopters to spot marijuana from the sky; it glows when seen through UV-sensitive equipment.)

Lowering the humidity in the room on that last night before harvest morning will ensure increased resin production, without having to let the medium go bone-dry first. Additionally, some growers like to subject their gardens to prolonged dark periods of up to 24 hours just before cutting, claiming they notice spikes in resin production. This is all right as the low humidity will cut down on light uptake anyway, plus it helps to make sure liquid foods within the plants drain down to the root zone.
This article says to flush/give only plain water the last 2 weeks. I brought that up on here, and basically everyone said not to, but to just lower the amount of nutes until harvest, but still continue to give them some. Flush or no flush, 48 hours of darkness, no darkness, its hard for a newbie like me to know what to do lol

Welcome to the world of cannabis forums lol. People always argue, you would aspect the opposite from stoners, right? In my opinion, try everything on your own if you want to see it for yourself. I never tried it because have not seen studies and I am satisfied with my buds. But couple of growers I follow take this step, with experience you will figure it out.

Do what makes sense to you. If you have two plants, do one and not the other. Mix it up. That’s the fun

Only have one, so will have to try different things on the next one. I agree, its probably best just to try different ways, and see which ones work out the best for me. I'm really happy with the results so far for my first one, has like 20 colas!!! Just don't want to mess it up at the end by doing or not doing something that ends up screwing her up!

One more question, I normally water on Sundays and either Wednesday or Thursday. If I'm going to chop this weekend would you skip the last watering and just let her go, it would basically be 6-7 days with no water at the time of chop

You should water now.
Ok, so water one last time tonight, and let her dry out for the next 2-3 days, then chop her down? I was gonna give her 2 days of darkness just to try that out, will watering her before putting her in darkness increase the chance of high rh and mold?

yes, but you have to control that. What size pots?
Five gallon fabric pots. I have very good ventilation, and soil is normally dry after 3 days. Im thinking I can water one last time tonight, keep up with the ventilation, and put a dehumidifier in there as well, then chop in 3 days. Last 2 days in darkness. Sound good?

I never noticed any difference in static darkness with harvest ready plants - i just wet trim them while in pot / container then shove them in a dark tent so i can pull them out to chop anytime of day or night.

Seems like they reek a bit more .... but i just smile at them with death shears behind my back then lop their fucking heads off.

Someone said in another thread you are a grounds superintendent at a local golf course in your area. Is that true?
