5x5 5k budget

Is this just for veg then you are building a flower room after? Or are you wanting one room for everything? Are you wanting it split in half so you can veg and flower at the same time, or are you going to veg, then flower in the same space, starting over after every harvest with new seed? Are you limited to a 5x5 area?

Sorry should of been more clear. Not limited don't want to build a room as we will only be here for another couple years then we are selling and moving.

5x5 for flower veg will be done under t5s in a separate tent. Not sure if I am gonna go Coco or DWC I still have my flood and drain equipment t and water farms 2 sets of t5s fans a lot things from when used to grow 10 years ago.

I guess I'm trying to decide between led and CMH I do have a couple lumateck digitals ballasts I think they are switchable 600 or 1k can't remember and all the stuff is in storage. Need to go look a and see what I have.

This or a gavita 1700e
I second the Gavita. Might be a touch overpriced for what it is, but you know a company like Gavita is going to come through in the quality department. As for the tent.... any tent will do. I personally dont like the gorilla tents at all. 5 zippers to get the front doors open. I personally just ordered a "Covert" brand tent from hydrobuilder because its a few inches taller than any other tent on the market (other than the gorilla of course, but again, fuck those.)

Honestly you should be able to come in well under the 5k mark even if you are buying a window ac unit, dehumidifier, heater, etc etc etc.

This is the ph pen I got a few months back, i love it.

Yeah I figured 5k was over kill i didn't want money to influence anyone's suggestion Its not like I want to carelessly spend but to be honest i stopped growing back in 2010-11 I lived so close to a school and prior prison time my punishment would of been 10+ yaers if i got caught. I still remmber the day i quit and clean up and shut down like yesterday. My twin boys were freshman one called me and said dad the drug dog just hit on my locker at school. I was right in the middle of harvesting 8 Soma NYCD a little over 10lbs worth. Only 4 people all family new I was growing and let me tell they were all there in a hr and we tore everything down and I stopped instantly. I also had some big cakes of mycelium brewing so need less to say i was sketched out. So i always said if it becomes legal i was do it again and not let money be a deciding factor in what i buy. Anyway.

So I do have some stuff left its been in storage all this time. I know i have all my lights left a couple 4x4 t5s a couple digital ballast left back then i was running 3k in a 6x9 built room. so don't think those will work for what i'm trying to do. And honestly i don't feel like battling the heat. Now im going to put a tent in a unfinished basement open floor plan with 8ft ceilings. I don't want to build a room we are not staying here much longer we are going to build a house and that's when i will have dedicated grow room built. Leds have come a long way since i was growing but im still skeptical of them.

How do they do compared to say 2x 315s in a 5x5? My main concern is heat & production.

Alot of growers like the 315 CMH + led's for winter growth and LEDS only in the summer time
Try to plan on achieving 75-85 degree day temps for LEDS, because they lack infrared heat to warm up the leaves. If you think this will be tough to achieve in the winter, then try out the combo of CMH + LEDS. Not too sure the best way to mix the spectrums though.

IMHO - reduce your initial cost to $3,000 - $3,500 max.

More than enough to start RIGHT - and enough built-in extra budget for tweaks, fixes, upgrades (discovered on an "as needed basis" ;) )
and good genetics on your next grows.

315s dont layout well for a 5x5. best run a 4x8 with two 630cmh fixtures (the ones with two bulbs)

If your going led then I'd order a vivosun tent. I had some older vivosun and while they worked good they are no where near the quality of the New vivosun 5x5 I got to use when I was moving and needed a temporary place to keep mothers and babies. The only thing is they aren't as tall as some of the nicer tents, but you said your in a basement anyways.

Seems the material is thicker than on the old tents, feels a lot better for sure.

Plus they are cheap and leave more money for other stuff.

If I was gonna go led I'd go with either the gavita 1700 or the new light growers choice just came out with it's 720 watts compared to 600 like some other LEDs. I was looking the growers choice ROI 680 but then I saw they had this new light coming out. Not sure what state your in but if it's Michigan send me a pm and I'll let ya know where to get a good deal on lights. I'm pretty sure they got gavitas too and they beat any online pricing or other stores. I had a commercial grower call a hydro store more local cause he claimed could get the better deals on lights and no one could match their price. 240-250 for de hps, gavitas and phantoms.

I don't care for the quantum board fixtures near as much as the strip lights. I believe the way they are configured doesn't give as good of coverage and makes for more hot spots.

I second that motion. Boards are hot as hell in the middle and shady round the outside. And I agree the more watts the better, most boards are in that 600 or less range and i would really rather see 700 plus. I also agree vivosun tents are real decent for the money, but if you have the headroom (some basements have 9 or even 10 foot ceilings) its always a good thing to have that extra space up top.

Yep if you do have the extra space height wise, and have an htg supply close by, they make a nice tent called a silver back. They are olive green instead of black like most tents. It's def the most well made tent I own. But it's 8 ft tall. I did somehow get it together run my new house I guess maybe the ceiling is a few inches over 8 ft here. But it was tight had to take a light bulb out of the fixture to fit it.

And of course gorilla tents are the best or atleast that's what they say, I think the silver back is just a green knock off of a gorilla tent.
