Today i found one of 4 plants drying, shriveling and dying, what should i do guys? Should i let it die and just dry out while the others finish or should i harvest early? Im on first day week 7. I could chop the dying plant out but im afraid the roots are going to rot and get all slimy.its a dwc so the roots of all 4 plants have been grown together and theres no way to seperate them. What to do.....ugh!20181127_132427.jpg

so i checked the trichomes on all the plants and i found the dying plant with mostly amber and the others are milky so im doing a quick flush + 48 hours dark period at the same time and harvesting.

do you know why it's dying? i see some nute burn and massive yellowing already.

how do the roots look? any rot going on?

i'd be surprised if they are done at only 49 days. what does the breeder say they should go for?

Idk i think i killed em with molasses. It just doesnt sit well in a dwc.and used full strength nutes 1st week of flower and shocked them a bit. I flushed it for a couple days but was never the same after that.the roots looked ok but got a little slimy after i added molasses.i wasnt sure if that was michorizea or what.think they just got burned though, which it easy to do with chelated nutrients. My next grow will not be DWC because its too hard to keep beneficial microbes alive in just water and chemical nutrients.

You never want to put molasses directly in your dwc rez. If you add the molasses directly to the rez you can be feeding bad bacteria/algae.

Did you mention your rez temps? I use bennies called mycogrow by Fungi Perfect and to feed them I use black strap molasses. My dec buckets stay between 65 and 70 f. Here are the steps I take:

1. Fill a red solo cup with warm water

2. Add .5 to 1 table spoon of bennies to the cup

3. Add .5 tablespoon of molasses

4. Mix the cup then let sit for 24-48 hours

5. After the waiting period add mixture to rez

Following these steps I have not had any root issues. The bennies I mentioned before are actually made to treat root diseases. That being said it is a little more expensive.

Edit: sorry for the long post. It is important to mention that using this method the bennies only last a few days. This is because they starve. Unfortunately you cant just feed the good bacteria and not the bad. A cheaper daily option would be to use hydroguard. The mycogrow just has more strains of bennies so it is more pricey. Using those bennies in even run kelp extract and have had 0 root issues.

Yeah I'd check for bud rot on those. I know that can make leaves look like that. Or maybe you just burned the fuck outta them.

Curious what you are running for feed. DWC doesn't require a lot of nutrients.

im slowly learning the error of my ways, and how chelated nutrients pretty much get force fed to the plant. Im pretty sure i did burn the hell out of them i use full strength dyna-gro (bloom), monster bloom, cal mag, great white and molasses, first week of flower at that.shocked the fuck out of them, and stunted them to about half the weight they should have been. I harvested after a 3 day flush at day one of week 8, the buds turned out smelling ok but airy af. I know they will shrivel up to nothing. 20181129_185418.jpg

After 7 days drying i weighed out and almost exactly two ounces. Should have got 4-5 min. for 4 plants and 700 true watts from the wall.i know gsc is not supposed to be a heavy yeilder but this grow was stunted majorly.20181206_081051.jpg

Definitely cut way back on nutes. I use CANNA nutrients and I believe their reccomend dose puts you at about 1400-1600 ppm. This is far to much especially considering it's the the only thing you are putting in. Just to put that in perspective my total ppm in my buckets is about 1100. This is with calmag, big bud, rhino skin and a little bit of micro from GH.

I would start at either 1/2 or 1/4 strength then work your way up from there. Also definitely look into bennies if you have root problems. I will be going with Southern Ag organic fungicide. It has the same ingredients as hydroguard but is cheaper and more concentrated.

dyna gro bloom is horrible. way too much P. and the monster bloom i'm guessing is just more P and K?

if you want to stick with DG, get their foliage pro formula and keep using the cal/mg too. use it from start to finish.
im actually going to ditch the chemical nutrients and hydroponics altogther.ive been growing in hydroponics for over 10 years now and i think its time that i get my feet wet in some organics and soil.learning a lot about microbes and bacteria and it seems like it might work better for me. Ive always thought that hyrdoponics was the only way to grow big huge sticky buds, but on the contrary im finding out different.
