95% of pistils are brown, harvest time?

I’m growing double grape by Mephisto and one of my plants seemed to mature quicker than the others. They’re both 86 days old from germination. My double grape #2 has about 60% brown pistils but some fattening up to do. My double grape #1 has almost 100% brown pistils, but the trichomes are all milky, almost none are amber yet. Attached is DG #2, DG#1 main cola and mid bud, and DG#1 trichomes. All of the plants leaves are still green but I pushed heavy fertilizer this grow. Should I ignore the pistils and watch for trichomes to know when to harvest?

It is only week 6 since first sign of pistil growth but I’ve had autos be ready in under 60 days before. They were from 2fast4buds and I think purposefully made to flower quick. It yielded a lot less.

The pistils are brown but still wispy around the buds. I’m watching to see if calyx’s are changing every 2 days and they do seem to be. I think ill give them their last week of nutes, then I’ll flush and return with pictures. In the past I’ve had plants yellow out on their fan leaves the last couple weeks leading to harvest but they were greatly under fed.

I read the signs of harvest are 50% of the pistils being brown and receding, 10% trichomes are amber, and the fan leaves lose color/start to curl and dry.
Does anyone know how big the harvest window is? I heard THC degrades quickly in the milky trichomes, It’d stink to harvest it too late.

Before you harvest or start flushing read this.

The signs of ripeness are pretty standard for cannabis plants.

First a few of the pistils begin turning color and start receding. Your plant is just starting to ripen. Depending on the strain you could still have two months to go. We're just starting this journey.

Two to four weeks later you'll notice that most of the pistils(>80%) have now changed color and curled back into the bud. It's frosty, way bigger than it was a few weeks ago(aren't you glad you waited), and smells dank! It's time, right? Not a chance killer. Patience is a virtue.

Over the next 2-3 weeks it doesn't look much different, maybe a little more swelling in the calyxes, and the rest of the pistils change over, but the stems are starting to bend under the weight of the buds. These ladies are putting on weight internally by adding density and now the buds are doing their final ripening.

Now you begin looking at trichomes, on the calyx, not the leaves, and harvest according to your preference. When looking at trichomes it’s essential to look at them from the side. The bulbous heads can magnify the opaque stalk under it. Looking from the side allows you to more accurately see the condition of the resin in the trichome head.

There is still no rush to harvest, the window just opened, and you have several weeks before you MIGHT start having to think about it possibly beginning to get too ripe. It takes WEEKS for plants to mature not days.

It is very easy to harvest a plant to early. It is very hard to harvest a plant to late. I’ve never seen someone accidentally wait too long.

I can promise those plants will not degrade in thc by letting them finish out for 2weeks.....I’d bet good money that just the opposite will occur.
You Never really know for certain what things will look like in a week or two, but those white pistils should recede And darken, your trichs should amber up more.
FYI, I just started growing indoor after a 25yr hiatus...but grew plenty outside. I can honestly say that I’ve never harvested a plant with white pistils still popping and been happy with the result. I’ve done it before but it’s always been a letdown.
The old timer that taught me the outdoor grow, used to say that it takes an extra week or two for the insides of a bud to ripen. When it looks totally ready on the outside (calyces aren’t throwing up anymore white pistils) let her grow another week and that’ll never disappoint you.
By the way, I’m growing 3 super skunk autos at the moment. The breeder states 9-10 weeks as a general timeline. Today is day 81, and I know it will be upper 90s or 100 days before these will be in a good window. I can’t say what caused it....I’m just getting dialed in with the new lighting and surely don’t have a perfect environment. Maybe the strain will grow to maturity in a different or better setting with different variables. What I do know is the environment that they’re currently growing in is gonna result in a 100 day timeline. My pics are from yesterday, day 80.
Your bud looks great and I hope it brings you many enjoyable sessions. 6A0C2F7D-F39C-4AC8-B94A-E3DA3389C21F.jpeg2B5CCC4B-6E98-4F7B-A150-60C1FEF9E015.jpeg

Thank you everyone who replied you were all very helpful. I’ll give her a little while longer and come back with pictures of the progress. @Bullmark that plant looks great. According to the breeders mine should’ve been ready December 26th, but it was definitely too early then.

Patience is a virtue with these ladies. If I’m noticing the calyx’s still swelling a bit I may still have a while then.

I won’t cut off the nutes yet. It sounds like I’ll have time to flush them once they’re ready. I don’t think it’d take very long to flush either because I water once every other day, and I’m using coco and perlite.

Feeding schedules have been cal-mag and magnum every feed, 1 day heavy feeding, 1 day light feeding, 1 day distilled water, and every 2 weeks doing a flush with “recharge” which has microbial.

This is my first autos grow pushing heavy nutes, I’m trying the fox farm bloom trio “open sesame, Beastie bloomz, and cha-ching” on heavy feedings and “Big Bloom” on light feeding days. I’ve heard conflicting things about fox farms and wanted to try it myself. I’ll probably upgrade to coco A and coco B next go because fox farms is very high in phosphorus, only a few products are OMRI, and I need to use them at half strength. I’m using them in order, not all at the same time.

I’m not disappointed with the results but I think coco a/b would work better in my medium. On the plus side fox farms is very affordable

Roll it up in a nutshell

"How much will this yield" *Picture of a plant 4 weeks in veg*

"When to flush?" *Picture of a plant with white pistils*

"Am I ready to chop" *Picture of a plant a month away from a good harvest* *harvests anyway*

The common thread?

light is the problem after harvest , thc degrades due to light , amber ball jars help alot when cure is taking place.

If you read the thread you’d see the plant I’m asking about was well aged, described as matured early, and has 0 white pistils.

I’m watching the calyx’s not the sugar leaves. If you read the comments you’d know I’ve been told about sugar leaves already a few times. This is my first Mephisto autos grow, not my first grow. You guys assume everyone’s just an idiot?

She’s yellowing at the bottom, has milky trichomes, and no white pistils for weeks. FYI my flushes take 1-2weeks, so I’m beginning flush now anticipating she’ll be ready by then.

if you read the thread you’d know we’re at least waiting it out until day 100. The day 96 picture was just an update.
