I know it's volts x amps but where am I connecting my probes? I'm trying to measure wattage on an led light with mean well driver.

You can only measure the amperage with most meters. And to do that, it needs to be in series with the current. Go from plug to meter, then to load on the hot lead. Measure amps, multiply by volts.

Or get a ge kill-a-watt meter and just push a button. It's like $20 on amazon.

I'm in North America so do I just need to measure the amps on the hot lead and multiply by 120 or do I need to measure the actual voltage.

I'm gonna play around with it. Can I use an extension cord, separate the wires so I can get my amp clamp around just the hot lead. Will that work

Voltage varies from 110-120 vac. It's easy to measure with a multimeter. Use what it reads.

So you have a clamp on ampmeter. If you are measuring from the wall using 120V should get you within 10%. If you want a more exact number you can measure the voltage across the line and multiply your amp reading.
