arctic circle growing..(fully auto zone)

I happen to live only a few hours drive from Alaska. of course the growing season is short. but what most of you southern folk forget about, is our daylight cycle.

you see, from about late may, after the last snow fall, usually may long weekend, the sun begins to hang in the sky and not come down. The 12/12 cycle starts in mid august and quickly falls to a 4/20 cycle for most of the winter. frost can happen as soon as Aug 15. Besides that, it can snow any time of year including mid July.

I own a tent for obvious reasons. winter being 9 months out of the year (-15 to -30 C)

but during the short 3 month summer we have a 18/6 to 22/2 light cycle..and +20 to +35C weather

this makes it perfect for auto flowers to grow and finish before the frost.. and its a whole lot more easy than trying to cover a green house at the exact same time of day every day.

I have no idea what that diagram or your post is trying to say. Not sure what horizons have to do with anything. The equinox means that on that day everywhere on earth has equal night and day whether you are at the equator, the poles, or in Boston.

Otherwise it would probably be called the fall unequinox.

No really, A family member lived in Juneau or something and told me daylight hours are different than ours but I didn`t think we had the same 12/12 hours.

The daylight hours are different every day except for the spring and fall equinox. On that day, the sun is shining directly on the equator and not more towards either hemisphere so when the line of darkness travels around the earth, it does so in a vertical north-south line on the same plane as the lines of longitude and time zone lines.

This means that the sun will set in Boston at the same time everywhere that is north and south of it on the same line of longitude. Pretty cool, right?

OK, I thought the axis effected it. But that was 50 years ago in school.

that being said. if i had been growing a photo strain out here it would not have started flowering yet or just have pre flowers. frost has already happened as of sept 12 so id be screwed. though the auto i did last year was done late aug when i planted it mid may.

just if you wanna know my daylight hours im at about 57 deg N

Yes Alaska is only off 12/12 by a day, but June 22 in Boston is 15.7 hrs. while in Alaska 57N it`s 17.6 Makes sense now.

If only you had our temperatures with your daylight hrs. Sucks we can`t trade daylight down here.

All that free cold air ? buy some lights, I`ll help you lol

ohh i use the cold air for my tent in the winter.. and wind turbines...yeah maybe once i get a few acres.
