Are SE setups dying out?

I think I do on my computer, when I get a chance I'll check then post it. It's been a while since I've grown in a 5'x5' tent. I ended up building a 9'x12' room. In that room I built a 3.5'x4' clone/veg room with 315w CMH and then next to that I have 5'x8' flowering room with 315w CMH and the 630w CMH. I was using a 5x5 area when I build the room and was getting the same results, I recently just added that other 315w so we'll see how much more I'll be getting in the next month. I'm looking to do perpetual harvest every month so I'll be dividing the flower room into 3

what HPS setup were you using prior? Ballast/Lamp/Bulb etc?

Thanks for the feedback. All your cmh are from the same company? Which bulbs are you running? Do you mix the spectrum on the 630? Sorry for all the questions

Im thinking no. Maybe 600/750 DE, not sure though. Ill show you what i got though might work i just don't know. Haven't tried by self. Give me sec.

I have DE's 5 foot on center. Center bulb to center of bulb. So 5x5 foot print. They sit about 3 foot above plant. Ive had them 27 inches above plants many times with no issues.

I run de and I'm not sure I'd try it in a tent and I've run lots of tents as well. I guess if you have an 8 ft+ tall tent and a way to cool it you could pull it off. The adjustawing hellion de reflector supposed to be better for getting them closer to plants but that doesn't take care of the heat issue.

Depending how you plan to cool I'd prob just go with an air cooled single ended 1k. Solistek makes a se/de ballast so you could do that and always switch at a later time as it can run either bulb just change out reflectors.

Thanks for the feedback. For the time being I am doing exactly what you recommend. Going with SE in an AC hood but I have three DE ballast en route in case I want to try a DE later

Concur on the SE 1000w AC hood in the 5x5, I'm doing the same in a 4x4, glad I did. I ran cobs before and these flowers are just overall superior. IMO, if you go LED then you gotta get the expensive lights that allow you to choose the sunlight spectrum you want. A bit out of range for most home growers though. Therefore, until those come down in price, I'm running HID all day and adding UVB end of flower.

What LED would I get for my 4x4? Two Veloya Light DNA 8.

I had only flowered under 1000w hortilux HPS. Then 2k. Veg was T5 then 400w Hps. Got a mh conversion bulb for veg. It was better. Recently got a SF-2000 QB for veg. It is doing even better, but it seems the light amount/density is lower. Probably need another one, or HLG 135?
I used a 1k HPS and a 1k MH conversion bulb to flower. Both hortilux. And I rotated them every week. Mixed feelings. Seem to get bigger flowers with HPS, but this quality is better than just HPS. Tastier,frostier,tighter,and plants looked better.
I have a buddy who is all blurples. His buds are fluffy, but good stuff. I have a buddy that is all CMH. He was Blurples. He loves it. Buds are tight and frosty. I knew a guy that went from blurple to SE HPS to DE HPS and he said it kills.
Idk about QB for flower, but I may find out this summer. It seems like LED is good, but you have to pack so many lights over it, that you spend a lot more than an HID set up. But the heat is a real issue. I use HID to heat my room overnight in winter. And my LED QB veg is having no issue with the heat from it.

I’m not addressing led vs hid in this thread. The title is clearly asking about HPS gear. LED has absolutely nothing to do with anything here and I’m not hanging it in my garden. Been there and done that.

Lol before my led setup that's kills my old 2 600w setup I ran 2 600hps in the same t3nt I'm in now a 1.2 with good air flow and a good extraction U are fine lol don't want foxtailing from to much light lol funny shit mine be foxtailing like crazy
