As Weed Becomes More Potent, Teens Are Getting Sick

I ran across this article today in the NY Times. It is a bit of a read but was pretty interesting stuff. I think the gist of it is, THC is in general not a big deal but as we start to reach these crazy high levels, especially in vapes where you are over 90%, it can become a problem, namely in teenagers.

I have only vaped once and I thought it was a bit over the top, but other than that I don't have much experience with it. I always told/tell my kids to just wait until they get a older if they can. There is plenty of time to enjoy this stuff later in life. Ultimately I always basically left it up to them to decide.

This kind of stuff is a little scary though. I tend to think of it akin to alcohol. When I was 16, drinking beer or mixed drinks was permitted by most parents as long as you kept it safe. However, I didn't know of any parent that would have been ok with say, me drinking moonshine. I tend to think this is analogous.

I don't know the solution, nor do I know all the facts, but figured I would share the article anyway.

Peace.

I’m not going to read that, but I just want to say that I don’t buy claims that cannabis flowers are getting more and more loaded with THC due to newer breeding or cultivation practices. I can’t dispute that extracts available today might be a lot stronger than hash oil in the 1970s — which I only sampled once — but the plant itself is no more “improved” than tomato or watermelon cultivars since I have been paying attention to horticulture over the past few decades.

The flowers I grow or buy nowadays are usually more consistent in quality than the dirtweed of my youth, but the best high I can get from dispensary flowers is no better than the best reefer I could score in the ‘70s or ‘80s. Tomatoes and watermelons are not much different than they were when Carter was president and neither is cannabis, as far as consumption is concerned.

Personally, I think all this "improvement " in pot is destroying and degrading to the plant. If I had time I would start growing heirlooms and landrace and try to get the "quality of effect" that was in the old weed.

A friend shared an Accopoco Gold toothpick with 2 of her friends a few days ago. She said they all got a little high.

They are also putting info that people are putting fentanyl in weed
The REEFER MADNESS crowd has taking over the Supreme Court
I expect to see some bad results in the state to state transfers soon
Of course in our best interest :wall:

When clubs dropped the medical quality cannabis I started seeing product that was not flushed properly, or left on shelves too long due to high prices. Wraps & blunts with tabacco will turn most newbies green.
Moderation is the key.

It’s coming back because they are pissed the majority are voting for legalization
When push comes to shove...
This didn't happen. Fiction. All made up. Just read between the lines.
An 80yo woman, wife of a Minister of Music in a very large church in an illegal state and anti-pot.
She was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia and a less aggressive bone cancer.

The doctors wrote her off because the treatment for her leukemia is chemo and that would aggravate the bone cancer and that she couldn't handle. I haven't seen them except a couple of times in the last 50 years but they knew I use so they looked me up. I gave her 60 surengezs and 5 dozen other cookies.

One week ago today her doctor said her leukemia was "stable".
More truth than fiction.
