Automatic PH Control for under $150

Thought I'd share this since it's completely eliminated my need to manually adjust PH.

Pictured below is a PH Down drip line controlled by a solenoid switch and a Milwaukee Instruments PH controller. It holds PH in my 20 gallon res at exactly what I set it to. I put some cotton in the brass nozzle at the bottom to get the flow down to about one drop every 2 seconds.

Cost was $148 and it took about 15 minutes to set it up.

Just be careful if the probe goes bad and reads off it can dose constantly. Had this happen back in the day. Now they have over run prevention logic in the better controllers so they won't just keep dosing.

Neat idea, but...you have pH down running directly through brass fittings? I'd be worried about the acid reacting with the brass causing corrosion, weakening the fitting itself and leeching zinc and copper into the system.

Hmm. Good point. I didn't think about that. I'll be keeping an eye on it for signs of corrosion. As for excess zink and copper getting into the system, any suggestions on what to look out for?

What controllers do you recommend to limit the overdose potential?
