BHO & Trim

How’s it going?

Not super knowledgeable when it comes to extracts but have been going through the site and elsewhere to know some more..

But i finally found some one near me who actually makes bho. I thought i’d only find solvent less around here.

He’s pretty legit it seems like, stuff looks rather clear and said it generally turns out like shatter if it’s dries trim but he can also make it into diamonds.

I’m going to use all my popcorn and sugar trim from my harvest.

he has a 1 LB min.

I’ll have like just barely 1 lb I feel.

He takes 30% of final, otherwise it’s free.

When asked about yields it’s very shady, no real number, which makes 100% sense. Relies on a lot.

But from experience, what sorts yields could one expect from popcorn/sugar leaves? No fan leaves at all. 5%?10?20?

Thanks

Depending on the quality, you can likely expect anywhere from 6-7% up to 14-15% using trim/popcorn buds. If it is decent trim and sugar leaves with a fair amount of trichomes and was grown well enough, a 10% return is likely around the average.

So if you give him a pound to start, about 450 grams, you can ESTIMATE around 45 grams finished (IF YOUR PRODUCT WAS DECENT!!) So likely around 14-15 to him and 30-31 to you.

Again, none of these numbers are at all the CORRECT answer, just general averages, so again, depending on your starting quality, those numbers could change fairly significantly, but that may atleast give you an idea.

Be safe and be happy!!

So just got it back.

Gave him 19 ounces of trim and popcorn.

got back 66.7 total. He took 13 grams i got the rest.

So I believe around 12%.
Now i have this oil.

Best way to package it? I’m getting sticker made for my lil “cannabis cultivation start up”and he’s giving me his extract company sticker .

I was going to do glass jars with his label on top and mine on bottom. (7ml)
Or put in mylar bags with the silicone parchment paper.

Is silicone parchment the way to go?

Did he purge it for you? Is it clear and hard like shatter or just a dark green blackish goo? Whenever people say BHO instead of shatter I imagine a ghetto product that’s unpurged, chlorophyll laden and dark in color. I wouldn’t give someone 14 grams of shatter for running a machine for an hour. I would charge $50 for that, you got took!

Wow you work cheap. You must live with your parents and work in your backyard or garage? It has to be a real low overhead situation.
It's a multi step process which involves more time than a hour watching a machine. It also requires investment resources and proprietary knowledge to name just a few more things.
About 25% is the average take for a prossesor around my parts. it's a sliding scale for me, The more you make the less I'll take. Tbh in this case I'd took half the yeild. 1.5 lb with a 2 oz return, not worth my time for less than a ounce.
Otherwise its about $350 cash to process a run, grower takes all.
Idk but I'm assuming he has shatter and it looks good enough to package label and sell. I don't believe anyone is buying dark bho goo these days but maybe I'm wrong

Really? A comment about my parents?. I live in my Own home and half my parents are dead already. Go fuck yourself. Yes I have low overhead, and I’m vertically integrated. I have no idea why anyone would give away 20% of their trim to run extracted product, it’s honestly not hard to make at all. I can run that same amount in a few hours, and purge it over two days also, don’t see the point in charging more. That’s my opinion.

2 oz return on 1.5 lbs is less than 10%... is that what you tell people and take the remainder, or are you running garbage trim. Wonder if your friends know you are stealing from them? That sounds shady to me. My friend has a 5lb extracting machine and vac oven and gets higher yields than that and it’s not as difficult as you make it out to be.

Pretty sure it’s quite known that for a trim run bho 8-12% return is pretty normal.

Not to mention i’d say the average is about 30% that the extractor takes. I was content with 20%.
So if you do it for less than 20%, good on you. But if you make such a quality product you should charge more, but to each their own.

Yeah 20% and he gave me about 50 stickers i can package them with along with mine.

Either way it works out good for you. Everyone’s local scene is different. Have you been dabbing on it today?BF5F1801-0ABE-4232-AA75-40B5388F545A.jpeg

Sounds like you're doing this all yourself on the side for friends and family out of your home and not as a licensed business with overhead or your primary source of income. No offense. Don't be so sensitive. I'm just stating how processors look at it. We are really not greedy assholes and the op didn't get taken as you were implying.
It shouldn't take 2 days in the purge btw. Very inefficient. That's time and money wasting. The purge chamber is valuable real estate.
Where are you at ? Sounds like we should all send our stuff to you. If I send you 50lbs what would you charge? like $100? Can you turn it out in 2 days?

You would be partially correct in your assumptions about me, but I’m confused. You are talking about huge runs, 50 lbs... OP said he is scraping together enough trim to do a lb. Doesn’t that mean he is a lot closer to a small scale guy like me who runs lbs at small overhead, than some big operation with huge overhead who is going to take a lot more of his product?

The OP posted a question asking about what we on Rollitup thought, and I answered, and then you were offended because I said he got took. Then the OP was offended for the same reason. Confusing. I’m sorry that I would have saved him hundreds of dollars in product, but it’s the truth. Why go to a Porsche dealership to get your Civic tuned up?

My yields are as follows:
High grade buds 22-26%
average Buds 18-22%
low grade, popcorn larf of average or high 12-18%
high grade trim 8-12%
Mixed trim 1-8%

Well i don’t think it’s your place to say if someone got got. Especially in the extract industry anyone running stuff asks for 30% generally.
So just cause you do it for the low dosent mean I got took. Nor did I get offended.

I’ll go to the dude who ran it for me every time. Live in my town and takes 20% of soemthing Id otherwise not use really.

And your number for yields seem very high, tbh. But if that’s the case, awesome for you.

I was Just messing with you man. I had assumed you're working with like a 2lb cls and a vac purge bucket or something making a 2 or 3 ounces at a time. But I agree with the op in that you really should charge more and be less philanthropic.
Think of it this way, you say you'd do this for $50 and it's 2 days in the oven for you.
That's 2 days it took you to make $50!
Nice extra spending money, a tank of gas maybe, perhaps you make some new friends but nobody can live like that. if you're making quality stuff you should want to set yourself apart from the backyard/garage alchemist. To borrow your analogy, most people prefer to take their car to the dealership rather than the neighborhood shade tree mechanic. It costs more yes but piece of mind is priceless. Know what I'm saying?
I'd guess if people started bringing you serious weight and you started doing this full time your prices would go up.

I think his yeilds seem about typical of what most people blasting cls claim to get.

12% yield from trim and popcorn is in the ballpark. Much higher and the trimmers may not be invited back.

I typically use 50% of bud yield as a rule of thumb. That suggests a 24% yield from your bud, which is also in the ball park.

20% to extract a 12% yield material is not unreasonable. I've seen it go at 50%, depending on the end product. Consider the equipment and expertise required, as well as the time watching over the process.

How you package it depends on your end product. I think a purdy shatter markets best pressed into a thin sheet, so the most light can show through. For that purpose, I use raw unbleached parchment. Parchment is better than a glass jar, because less will be lost sticking to surfaces.

If it is an oil, a glass jar is a good way to go.

Lol, okay buddy who was asking about yields but now apparently is an expert!! People these days! You seem pretty confidant in your knowledge for just asking the Internet about yields because you didn’t know... what a fucking idiot.
