Bodhi seeds and cloning a first run

Quick question, just got some Bodhi seeds, and since you don't know male/female until you 12/12, how do you guys do it?

Do you take a cutting from each of the plants, label appropriately and then sort them once they show sex?

Definitely don't want my mother plant to be a monster clone, or do I?

Halp! LOL.

I do 10 regs at a time and wait till they show sex before flipping to 12/12. Usually males show first, starting around 4 weeks.. Some are stubborn and wont show till 12/12 but the majority ime show under 18/6

Lots of ways to do this. I don’t know how ppl get their plants to show sex at 18/6...never worked for me. Here’s what I do:
Veg the plants from seed at 18/6 for at least 6 weeks. Then drop the hours of daylight to 15/9. Plants will begin to preflower. 1 or 2 weeks later go to 13/11; plants will begin transitioning to flower and start showing sex. Kill all the boys (or select & separate one for pollen/seed production); they usually show before the girls. Once you know which are which take cuttings from the girls.
You can then go straight to 12/12 to continue into flower phase at this point or go back to veg at 18/6 for a couple more weeks which greatly increases bud mass (AKA monster cropping). Continue to LST the plants to even and control the canopy. Once they are nice and bushy and of desired size flip to 12/12 for the duration of the bloom cycle.

Ive always thought it best to wait for the plant to show preflowers before flipping to 12/12. Not to say that I havent induced flowering on young plants in the past, but I have always heard that it is best to wait until the plants are "sexually mature" before flowering. Some say flipping seedlings too soon results in more herms, not sure how much truth is in that but I still always wait til there are preflowers. A word of caution : female preflowers do NOT guarantee that the plants are entirely female. Ive seen all too many incredible looking plants develop into ladyboys (herms). I just had to toss out a couple of Ancient og's from a buddy's garden yesterday. They looked incredible, but a few branches had male flowers at the internode. I dont play around with balls. Lots of growers will pick em off. F that, I like my ladies to stay ladies !

I take clones from each plant while still in veg (using labels, of course), and once they root, put the clones into 12/12 immediately while at the same time putting another round of clones in the cloner.

After I determine sex, I take the best looking male original plant, and flower it out for pollen right away. For the females, depending on what's happening in my grow environments, I may veg the females longer then go to flower with them (including using at least one for pollination), or just cull the original plants and re-start the cycle all from clones now that I know each plant/clone's sex.

All depends on how much space I have in my various tents at the time relative to my growing cycles, and what the purpose is for the new plants (experiments, pollen run, seed run, product etc).
