Buds seem wet on the inside.

So my brother wanted to smoke this evening and he said he grabbed some of my freshly harvested bud. it was hang drying for 4 days, then it went into jars last night, and I burped it once this morning and added a boveda 62 and burped it once again right now.. but he threw some in his grinder and he said it still seemed wet. not fully wet.. but he said it didn't all wanna go through the grinder I guess cause the moisture still there. no mold and it smells good still a little hay and chlorophyll smell but I read it goes away with a good cure.. will the humidipak help this dry all the way through? is it too wet to put into the jars yet? the outside is dry to the touch but obviously still a tad wet inside.. should I go down in the boveda pack to a lower rh?

Sounds to me like it needs to cure longer. When you burp the jar, does the bud feel wet on the outside, or only on the inside when split open?

The Boveda pack will not help dry anything out, but will release moisture when necessary to keep the humidity from going below the percentage on the label.

So my best guess is it just needs to cure longer. 5 days seems awfully quick to go from harvest to smokeable.

Lay it out on some cardboard for a day or two. It's too wet, you're going to fuck it up if you leave it in those jars

how will I know? when it's ready?

I tried my best to follow fdds thread on how to harvest and dry and cure and all that.. he says he still throws them in there while they have little moisture.

cure longer? or dry more? cause you said curing with the humidipak will not dry anything out it will just maintain, correct? so it'll always stay that wet?

So your saying fdds throws them in the jars exactly when you chose to? My bud never smells like hay you shouldn't be trapping that crappy smell imo.

exactly..no i don't think anything is exact.. anyways as he described the best time to jar it up.. I believe I was at that point.. very similar timing. I don't think it's hay it's more of the chlorophyll I believe. I said hay because that's what every one refers to when it comes to.new harvest..

It's still wet. My bud smells like dank all the way threw . Unless I grow outdoor then it smells like hay until it drys. If it smells weird already and your leaving it closed it's only going to get worse.

I take it you don't have a humidity gauge.
Here's what you need to do ASAP. As in as soon as you read this. Go find something to monitor humidity. In a pinch like this I'll tell you a cheap and fast one that'll work just fine. Go down to the nearest pet store. Grab yourself TWO of those humidity gauges for reptile habitats. It'll look like a small compass. There are digital and analogue ones. The analogue ones work just fine (DO NOT DROP IT OR LET IT BANG OFF A HARD SURFACE OR ANYTHING. That'll ruin it) It shouldn't run you any more than 10$ each.
They may have them at your local Wal-Mart in the pet section as well.
Go to Wal-Mart or somewhere. Grab a big ass glass container with the clear glass top. Enough to put ALL of your product in anyways. But don't fill it more than 75-80%. The big plastic jars with the rubber seal lids work nicely as well. They have a clear lid as well. Not to mention a handy dandy metal handle so you can frolic through the forest with it and shit.
Take out the humidity monitor. Tape it to the lid so you can see the gauge on it. Try not to cover any of the holes in the back of it. Chuck all of your dope in there. If your dope's really wet then you'll see that needle start ticking upwards in as little as 2 minutes. If it goes up and over the cure zone then let it sit for about 4 hours. That way the moisture inside will redistribute throughout the dope.And it'll even out the RH in the jar as well. If you're past the cure zone by 5+points then pour everything out of the jar. Return it in 2 hours. Rinse/repeat. When you get into the 5 point range then switch over to 1 hour. When you get into the cure zone then just monitor it after things are closed up. If it stays at a stable RH in the cure range then you're good to go. Keep an eye on it for the next 2-3 days. If it stays in the same spot then it's good and stable.THEN add your boveda pack.
Take your other humidity gauge. Have it in the room you're drying in. That way you'll see if the area is even suitable to dry in or not. I don't care what the weatherman says. Inside and outside humidity are 2 totally different things. How the room "feels" and thinking it's dry enough is like trying to eyeball an ounce instead of using a scale. If your humidity is too high then buy a dehumidifier. Get the room's RH where you need it to be. If it's low then don't worry about it too much. If it's REALLY low then keep a close eye on your buds humidity and modify the time you leave it out to dry.
After all of your product has reached it's desired RH and is stable feel free to break down all of your weight and get it into glass jars as you see fit. Or just leave it all together in a big one. I've kept 8 ounces in a giant ass container and didn't have any problems with it.
So tldr
1 Buy something to check your humidity. Today.
2 get your dope where you need it to be.
3 learn to cure without boveda packs.

Oh and when you dump your dope out and leave it set an alarm on your phone. I fell asleep once (and slept for 8 hours) My dope was too dry when I woke up.

I am only guessing here but it probably does need to dry more. It should be dry to the touch on the outside when it goes in the jar to cure. The inside will still be wet, and as it sits in the jar the moisture content across the bud will equalize, making the outside moist to the touch (which is a sign its not yet ready to smoke).

The Boveda pack will only keep it at 62% humidity once it has reached 62% or less (which it very likely has not).

Monkey's post is on point. Do that.

And like he said, learn to cure without the Boveda packs (because they're not helpful for curing). The Boveda packs are useful for storage. If you're going to keep your bud on a jar for a couple weeks or months and don't want it to dry out, plop one of those in there to keep it from becoming too dry.

Just take it out of the jar and let it dry out for a day.

The reality is that you will never ruin weed by drying it for too long, even if it never makes it into a jar, but you will ruin it by jarring it too early. I've had plants hanging for months, and when they were finally jarred, they smoked great.

It is the normal process of curing, however, if you want to speed up the process, leave some out to dry. A well cured bud should not be too dry it should have some of its natural moisture to it, not dry like hay, that is the reason we preserve that in our jars.

so I'll buy those gauges today.. but I had already bought mason jars? can I just pop it in there? and let it sit at the bottom and put my bud on top or vice versa? and when you say the jar shouldn't be more than 80 percent full? is that 80 percent including the gauge.. or fill the jar 80 percent with bud and then lay the gauge in there? or full it 60 percent and the other 20 will come from the size of the gauge. only reason I'm asking is cause I don't have clear tops to tape to the lid.

and what is the cure zone.. what rh?

doesn't anybody know how to sweat their weed, you hang dry until it's crispy on the outside, yet it will still have moisture on the inside, you can put it into a jar, i personally use big plastic totes with a little hole in the handle area, leave for 24 hrs and open it, it will be wet again, hang until feels dry again, then you can start curing it in your jars.

It could be over ripe lower quality outdoor. That's my guess on smell.

As for moisture, gotta cure longer.
