Can I grow a seed found in Moonrocks?

I would say there could be many variables in regards to why it might not grow how you would expect, but you could definitely try it out and see what happens so give it a try and see, make sure to keep us informed. I'm kind of curious to see how it turns out!

I wouldn't waste time and effort growing any form of bag seed. Although the female plant that produced those delicious buds in which you discovered your "bag seed" poses seemingly superb genetics, the male plant that produced the pollen that fertilized that female bud is likely to be just average in quality. This off spring that you are contemplating whether to commit several months of effort into growing is simply not worth the risk of producing inferior genetics let alone all of the problems unknown genetics may pose throughout the grow cycle. Next time you wish to buy "moonrocks" or any buds at all for that matter buy seeds online from a reputable breeder and seed bank instead. It only takes 10 days or so for them to arrive and best of all you know for 100% certainty what you are growing, whether the plant will be definitely be female (feminized) or possibly male. This also allows you to research the exact nature of the plant and thus give you the opportunity fulfill its genetic potential to entirety.

I was cutting a piece of my moonrock to put in a blunt and found a seed. Is it still good to grow?
A year ago a buddy of mine went to CO to buy his forst legal weed. he came back with some Sour Diesel. He found a seed and popped it. It grew nice and healthy and provided clones. He is perpetuating the strain and it's genetics and the potency has not diminished. This may or may not be what you experience...but if you have the time, space, and resources...why not try??

You do realize seed bank seeds offer superb genetics but still have regular seeds that have fathers right?

Fathers are actually extremely important to the breeding of cannabis.

What you're talking about "bagseed" would be something you'd find in some mid or poorly grown weed from Mexico or hidden pot farm. These places pump out lots of weed with no regard to quality to sell on the street and that is how you wind up with shitty bag seed.

But if you find a single viable seed in your purchase from the dispensary or in a bag of some fire then you've been blessed.

I popped a Dispensary seed found before a grind ... I call that a win !
I just found 1 from a dispensary but it was in my tray after the grind.

Popped it now just waiting to see the sprout through soil. Its a MANGO strain so im excited!

Win win ;)

You can buy feminized or regular seeds from a seed bank.

Regular seeds are made through pollination of a female plant via a male plant.

Feminized seeds are made from female plants self-pollinating.

Regular seeds that have a chance of being either male or female do not necessarily have worse genetics. If you get a seed out of a bag of OG Kush from the dispensary then the seed still has the OG Kush genetics and is worth growing. Bagseed from good weed is going to be good weed if you are aware of the genetics, which in OP's case he can.

WHAT YOU seem to be referring to is shitty bagseed that you can get a dozen of in a single bag of mid or a few in someone's homegrown loud. Those seeds would be wildly different as you can't trace the genetics but you can with dispensary grown strains or pretty much in any legal state.

In short: If your bagseed comes from a reputable dispensary or breeder than grow that shit. If it comes from you don't know where then proceed with caution. Don't discourage people with good seeds from growing them just because you have a misunderstand of how the genetics would work in this scenario.

As i see it .... You would be fool not to check your meds ( from a dispensary ) .
Those seeds would be highly viable as the grower of that quality strain has done all the hard work in growing it to the perfect maturation point. From one i have garnered many seeds from perpetual grows from that plant . Since i grew 2 plants from one original - i have accumulated up 22 seeds by letting her go into near 100 days. I have no males involved ... They have continued to self pollinate and still give good bud , it seems to seed in maybe 10 % of total mostly on mid buds.
