can I repot these mother plants into smaller pots?

I have some mother plant's in 5 gallon pales and I'd like to switch them into 11 liter buckets to save on space. will this work?

As long as you remove foliage in the same ratio the root mass Shrinks you should be ok. Take even removal of roots with a little more focus in the bottom.

move downsized moms and they are ok as after a couple days. I generally transplant let them establish and then top immediately

Yeah i agree with this.

Or just take clones from the mothers and flower out or dispose of the rest of the plant....

id like to keep these specific mother plants going/ get rid of these buckets asap

Then do what the other guy said. I agree that you likely need to remove a good portion of the branches if you want to cut that much root mass off. And i would cut the branches a couple days before cutting the root ball up so that the plant doesnt get quite as much shock all at once.
