Can I use a 125W CFL in a 250W ballast and reflector grow light?

Hello everyone,

I have a 250W reflector kit with it's ballast and I was wondering if I could use a 125W CFL instead of the 250W MH that suppose to be used? I have some heat and ventilation issues so I was thinking of using a CFL until I get these issues resolved, besides it would only be for the seedling stage not the whole vegetation phase. In any case if there's any electrical nuts out there I would really appreciate any feedback.

Thanks for your time RIU,

AWnox

P.S.:Socket is the same size for both the CFL and the reflector.
great question, I would think it would be ok, but not the other way around, a 250 watt in a 125 watt fixture. but what do I know? obviously not much......

If someone has thought about it... someone has probably done it. Scary thought.

"They have the same socket, what could go wrong?"

Yeah exactly fuck the idiots. It's got a ballast built in so e40 socket straight to lead and plug in to 230v
