A few years ago i skimmed through and article online that talked about cannabis absorbing or picking up the smells of surrounding plants. Like if it was grown in a lavender field it would pick up lavender smell and taste. Of course now I can not find the article anywhere......Anybody have any idea about this?

Well, if you put ONA gel in your tent, your buds will pick up the smell and they will taste like shit.
In highschool, my friend put his buds in an altoid tin that wasnt cleaned well and it picked up the minty smell and tasted like shit.
Yofumo advertise a piece of equipment that allows you to infuse cannabis with non-cannabis terpenes.

I think if you are adulterating buds with non-cannabis derived terpenes its going to taste unnatural and probably not in a positive way.

ooopsy i meant while the plants were growing, there was a study about it .......not infusing the plants with anything, just while they were growing the would pick up the surrounding terpenes.....

Interesting. Plants develop traits because their environment affects their genetic switches. That's why wines of same grapes are varied by regions. Everything from sun exposure, rainfall, microbial life in soil, soil types, mineral makeup... But this is over time. I have grown weed by tomatoes for a long time. Always just the weed. BUT, last year I planted some seeds I made in the garden and one by the tomatoes had a flavor like a chef boyardee tomato sauce. Gross.
Im peeing on my plants this year. Will keep you posted.
